Some examples include a print system including a memory to store instructions and print data of a print job, a processor to execute the instructions in the memory to reference print data of a print job, transform the print data into a plurality of print regions of a medium representation, each of the plurality of print regions including a print density, determine the quantity of print regions having a print density exceeding a predetermined threshold, and apply a modifier to the quantity of print regions having a print density exceeding the predetermined threshold to generate a score. The print system includes a print engine to move the medium along the print path to deposit a print substance onto a medium and apply drying to the medium and a controller to control a drying of the medium along the print path of the print engine in response to the score.

Print region based print drying

In some examples, luminance-biased sharpening for thermal media printing may include converting an input image to a grayscale luminance representation. For each pixel of a plurality of specified pixels of the converted input image, a sharpening lightness value may be determined. Further, a ratio of the sharpening lightness value to a corresponding original lightness value may be determined. A resulting sharpened pixel may be determined by applying a corresponding value of the determined ratio to each of the specified pixels. A dark correction factor may be applied to the resulting sharpened pixels that are darkened and a light correction factor may be applied to the resulting sharpened pixels that are lightened. Based on application of the dark correction factor and the light correction factor, a sharpened output image corresponding to the input image may be generated.

Luminance-biased sharpening for thermal media printing

In an example, a print system include a component device that is operation in a number of state, a density engine, and a component engine. An example density engine identifies a plane region of a plane where print fluid is to be printed based on data of a print job and determines a density classifier for the plane based on a location of the plane region on the plane. An example component engine causes an adjustment of a component attribute of the component device based on the density classifier.

In some examples, luminance-biased sharpening for thermal media printing may include converting an input image to a grayscale luminance representation. For each pixel of a plurality of specified pixels of the converted input image, a sharpening lightness value may be determined. Further, for each pixel of the plurality of specified pixels of the converted input image, a ratio of the sharpening lightness value to a corresponding original lightness value may be determined. Based on the determined ratio, a sharpened output image corresponding to the input image may be generated.
