A resolver disposed to monitor a rotatable member is described, along with an associated method for evaluating an output signal therefrom. The method for monitoring the resolver includes supplying an excitation signal to the resolver, and monitoring, at an oversampling rate, first and second output signals from the resolver. An oversampling routine is executed to determine averages of the first and second output signals from the resolver. A demodulation angle error is determined based upon the first and second output signals from the resolver, and provided as feedback. A position of the resolver is also determined based upon the first and second output signals from the resolver.

Method and apparatus for monitoring a resolver

A device for monitoring a resolver disposed on a rotatable member is described herein, and includes a controller including a microprocessor circuit and an interface circuit connected to the resolver, wherein the microprocessor circuit includes a dual-core central processing unit (CPU), a pulse generator, a sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (SDADC), a global memory device, an internal communication bus and a direct memory access device (DMA). The microprocessor circuit is disposed to control the pulse generator to generate an excitation pulse transferable to the excitation winding of the resolver, and control the SDADC to capture data from the secondary windings of the resolver and store the captured data in the memory buffer. A control routine is executed to detect an envelope for the captured data, and a rotor position for the resolver is determined based upon the detected envelope.

Method and apparatus to monitor a resolver

A resolver rotatably coupled to a rotatable member is described, including a method for evaluating an output signal therefrom. This includes supplying an excitation signal to the resolver and dynamically determining corresponding output signals from the resolver. A plurality of datasets are determined, with each dataset including digitized states of the excitation signal supplied to the resolver and corresponding output signals from the resolver. The digitized states of the excitation signal and the corresponding output signals from the resolver for each of the datasets are arithmetically combined, and a moving average thereof is determined. A phase shift error term is determined based upon the moving average, and a phase shift is determined between the excitation signal and the corresponding output signals based upon the phase shift error term.

Resolver phase compensation

A voltage source inverter controller for controlling an inverter electrically connected to an electric machine includes a current command generator, a six-step flux controller and a current regulator. The six-step flux controller generates a flux modifier to regulate flux in a flux-weakening speed/load operating region of the electric machine when operating the electric machine in a six-step mode. The current command generator converts a desired torque to three-phase desired currents that are input to a dq0-dq transformer and combined with the flux modifier to determine a modified-flux direct-quadrature (dq) current request. The current regulator includes a proportional-integral feedback controller, anti-windup elements, a dq voltage limit element and a voltage magnitude limiter. The proportional-integral feedback controller and the anti-windup elements perform closed-loop current control on the modified-flux dq current request to determine commanded dq voltages.
