A digital model of a structure comprises a physical BIM model and one or more analysis models for structural engineering, wherein a piece of the structure may have one digital representation, called a physical part, in the physical BIM model, and one digital representation, called an analysis part, in one of the analysis models, but there may be analysis parts without corresponding physical parts, and vice versa. Association information associating an analysis part with a corresponding physical part allows a soft relation between the parts, the soft relation being usable for indicating that a part's corresponding part has changed without changing the part correspondingly.

Document spaces are used for intermediate technical documents created for a model with a displayed 3D model view. A document space is a finite volume having a location in the global three-dimensional coordinate system of the model and a reference to a technical document. A displayed document space in the displayed model view illustrates where one or more model parts, or corresponding pieces of model parts, which are included in the technical document, locate.

To enable to display one or more drawing content, which have been created during defining one or more engineering drawings from a model which comprises one or more parts to model one or more structures, digital twins of the one or more drawing content with associated information are created and published. The associated information of the digital twin comprises three-dimensional coordinates for the drawing content in question, determined based on one or more parts, to which the drawing content relates, and identifying information of said one or more parts.

A solution is introduced in which, instead of providing an object with all information, some of the information is provided by means of one or more group definitions. This is achieved by performing a grouping operation during which an object having object data defining at least one property of the object is assigned to a group having at least one group definition defining at least one feature shared by objects assigned to the group; and storing as mapping information a grouping time indicating the time the grouping operation was performed to the object and a link between the object and the group.
