A projector includes: a mounting unit for mounting optional unit () having an extension function section, connection substrate (), and cable () for electrically connecting the extension function section and connection substrate (); mother substrate () having connector () to which terminal () is electrically connected; Z-shaped guide metal fitting () located on the mounting unit and configured to movably guide terminal () to connector (); and a case having mother substrate () located therein. One side face of the case has an opening for inserting/removing optional unit () into/from the case, and a side panel for covering the opening being removably located in the opening. When optional unit () is inserted into the case from the opening, connection substrate () is guided by Z-shaped guide metal filling (), and optional unit () functions when terminal () is electrically connected to connector ().

Provided is a substrate connecting structure that includes a support housing to which a main substrate is attached, and a shield housing for housing a relay substrate, the support housing being provided with a first opening for exposing a first connector provided in the main substrate, a first guide, and a pair of hinges, the shield housing being provided with a second opening for exposing a second connector provided in the relay substrate, and a second guide that works cooperatively with the first guide, the first guide and the second guide guiding the shield housing so that the shield housing can move perpendicularly to a main surface of the support housing provided with the first opening, ends of the pair of hinges being located between the shield housing and the support housing and being adapted to be rotated to separate the shield housing from the support housing.

A structure for cooling a lamp used for a projection type display apparatus is provided. The structure comprises a lamp house for housing a lamp that is operable as a light source, said lamp house being configured to be installed in a housing of said projection display apparatus; and a fan for supplying cooling air into said lamp house. The lamp house comprises a removable lamp house cover, and an exhaust duct for said cooling air is integrated with said lamp house cover.
