An electrophotographic photoconductor in which generation of a ghost phenomenon caused by exposure is avoided and potential change before and after continuous printings is insignificant. A functionally separated type electrophotographic photoconductor includes at least a charge generation layer containing a charge generation agent and a charge transport layer containing a charge transport agent, the two layers being sequentially laminated on a conductive substrate. A ratio of the maximum intensity of a halo pattern to a peak intensity of a maximum diffraction peak is less than 0.3 in an X-ray diffraction pattern obtained by a powder method using Cu K&#x3b1; line of a test coating film produced from a test coating liquid that is prepared by adding the charge transport agent into a coating liquid for the charge generation layer in an equal mass of the charge transport agent to a mass of the charge generation agent.

Electrophotographic photoconductor

A multi-layered organic electrophotographic photoconductor exhibits superior stability in mass production and excellent adhesion ability with two layers contacting the charge generation layer and is free of contamination of the coating liquid for a charge transport layer during a dip-coating process due to dissolution of the charge generation layer. The multi-layered organic electrophotographic photoconductor includes a conductive substrate and layers including an undercoat layer containing a thermosetting resin, a charge generation layer containing a charge generation material and an organic binder resin, and a charge transport layer laminated sequentially on the substrate, wherein polydispersity defined by a ratio of a weight average molecular weight to a number average molecular weight of the organic binder resin is at least 4.0, and the weight average molecular weight is at least 7.0&#xd7;10in a distribution of a polystyrene-converted molecular weight obtained by gel permeation chromatography.

Multi-layered organic electrophotographic photoconductor

An electrophotographic photoconductor includes a photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate. The photosensitive layer contains a pigment that consists of crystallites composed of molecules having a titanylphthalocyanine structure, wherein a crystallite diameter of the pigment is not smaller than 20 nm and a primary particle diameter of the pigment is not larger than 500 nm.

A photoconductor includes a conductive substrate, an undercoat layer on the substrate, and at least one photosensitive layer on the undercoat layer. The radius of vacancy type defects in each of the photosensitive layer and in the undercoat layer is o.4 nm or less. In one embodiment, the radius of vacancy type defects is measured by a positron annihilation method.
