Nonwoven fabric made from filaments and artificial leather containing it

Crimped polyester fibers which comprise a polytrimethylene terephthalate-based polyester and have three-dimensional crimps with a number of crimps of 9 to 30 peaks/25 mm and a crimp ratio of 20 to 50% and further a crimp modulus of elasticity of 80% or above. A fiber structure wherein the weight ratio of staple fibers of the above crimped polyester fibers to heat-bonding conjugated staple fibers is 30:70 to 95:5 and heat-bonded spots are formed at least partially in contact points of both the staple fibers and/or contact points of the mutual heat-bonding conjugated staple fibers.

Crimped polyester fiber and fibrous structure comprising the same

A hydrophilic fiber which is a fiber having the ratio of the perimeter occupied by a polyolefin to the whole perimeter of the fiber cross section of 30% or above, the hydrophilic property of the fiber of 30 seconds or below and the retention of the hydrophilic property of the fiber with the lapse of time of 90% or above before and after treatment at a temperature of 40&deg; C. and a relative humidity of 80% with the lapse of time of 30 days, with the proviso that the hydrophilic property of the fiber is measured by the following method: The interior of a pipe made of polymethyl methacrylate and having an inside diameter of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 30 mm and a pipe length of 25 mm is stuffed with 5.0 grams of fibers so as not to protrude the fibers. Said pipe is floated on 1,000 cc of softened water at 30&deg; C. in a container having a caliber of 105 mm &phgr; and filled with the water, allowed to stand and once sunk to the bottom. The fibers are then taken out of the interior of the pipe and air-dried at normal temperature. The operations are repeated four times, the number of seconds required for the pipe from floating on the water and sinking to the bottom of the container is subsequently measured in the fifth operation to provide the hydrophilic property of the fiber.

Hollow polyester fibers having a thickness of 0.11 to 8.89 d tex (0.1 to 8.0 denier), a hollow volume (a cross-sectional area ratio of hollow to fiber) of 40 to 85%, and a crystallization degree of 20% or more and crystal size in (0 1 0) plane of 4 nm or more of polyester, has a high resistance to compression and a high recovery from compression and are useful for producing woven and knitted fabric having a high durability, pile sheet materials having high resistance to and recovery from pile prostration, and nonwoven fabrics and artificial leather materials having a high resistance and recovery from compression.

Elastic polyester fibers having a high anti-cohesive property (separability) include (A) a polyester elastomer and (B) 0.2 to 10%, based on the weight of the elastomer, of an anti-cohesive agent including (a) at least one alkali metal salt of organic sulfonic acid of the formula: R.sup.1 --S0.sub.3 M, wherein R.sup.1 =C.sub.5-25 hydrocarbon group, M=alkali metal, and (b) at least one compound of the formulae (2)-(6): R.sup.2 --X.sub.p --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OH (2), R.sup.3 --COO--CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH (3), R.sup.4 --COO--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.m --H (4), R.sup.5 --O--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n H (5) and R.sup.6 --CONHCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 NHCO--R.sup.7 (6), wherein R.sup.2 -R.sup.7 =C.sub.5-25 hydrocarbon group, X=--CONY or ##STR1## group, p=0 or 1, m, n=5 to 50.

Highly elastic heat-bonding conjugated fibers capable of providing a fiber structure having excellent recovery from compression and compression durability and a high level of air permeability comprise a thermoplastic elastomer component and a crystalline nonelastic polyester component having a higher melting point than that of the elastomer as constituent components thereof and can be provided by arranging the elastomer component in a crescent shape in the circular fiber cross section of the bonding conjugated fibers and specifying the geometrical dimensions (a shape occupied by each of the two components constituting the heat-bonding conjugated fibers) therein.

A fragrant non-hollow core-in-sheath type composite staple fiber having a length of from 3 mm to 150 mm and useful for gradual fragrance-emitting textile materials comprises (1) a non-hollow core portion comprising (i) 0.1 to 5% of an essential oil and (ii) the balance consisting of an olefin polymer composition; and (2) a sheath portion covering the core portion and comprising a polyester resin, the olefin polymer composition (ii) comprising: (A) 50 to 98% by weight of an olefin polymer which is a polymerization product of at least one member selected from ethylene and .alpha.-olefins, and free from polar radicals; and (B) 2 to 50% by weight of a modified olefin polymer that is a copolymerization product of (a) 70 to 97% by weight of at least one olefin with (b) 3 to 30% by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated polar monomer selected from ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, ethylenically unsaturated alcohols, ethylenically unsaturated esters, anhydrides and amides of the above-mentioned carboxylic acids and uniformly blended with the olefin polymer (A).

Disclosed is a flameproofing synthetic fiber comprising a halogenated cycloalkane and at least one member selected from phosphorus compounds represented by the following general formulae (I) through (IV): ##STR1## According to the present invention, the flameproofing synthetic fiber which is excellent in flameproofing property and feeling and significantly improved in spinning property and corrosion protective property can be provided. Furthermore, the foaming during operation and the passing processability through a stuffing crimper are also extremely improved.
