Musical performance support device and program

An electronic percussion instrument generates, in accordance with a trigger signal output from a pad source, a musical performance tone of a tone color assigned to the pad source. The electronic percussion instrument includes a program memory for storing a control program and a CPU for controlling operation of the electronic percussion instrument in accordance with the control program stored in the program memory. A storage device is also provided for storing a plurality of trigger data sets each of which includes at least one sensitivity setting parameter for setting sensitivity to the trigger signal, and a plurality of drum kits each of which includes pad setting data for setting the tone color assigned to the at least one pad source and link data for designating one of the plurality of trigger data sets. A setting operation input unit is provided for selecting a drum kit from among the plurality of drum kits. The CPU is coupled to the storage device and the setting operation input unit and operative under the control program for setting the sensitivity to the trigger signal on the basis of the at least one sensitivity setting parameter included in the trigger data set designated by the link data included in the drum kit selected by the setting operation input unit.

Electronic percussion instrument

A tone generating portion has a performance play capability for concurrently generating, on the basis of a set of performance information, musical tone signals having various voices each assigned to one of parts. A performance data setting portion chooses, under user's direction, one of performance data sets stored in a performance data set storage portion and makes settings of the various voices applied to musical tone signals for the parts. A developing portion enables generation of musical tone signals for at least one of the parts and disables generation of musical tone signals for the other parts in response to user's direction in a state where respective settings of various voices to be applied to musical tone signals for the parts have been done. A tone range defining portion defines tone range data of the at least one part as representing a tone range including at least pitches of all the musical tone signals specified by the performance information.

Musical tone signal generating apparatus for generating musical tone signals

Tone color selecting space is provided, where tone color data are allocated to addressable locations in association with tone color selection information in accordance with a predetermined tone color standard. Into the tone color selecting space can be loaded not only tone color data compliant with the predetermined tone color standard, but also other tone color data, such as those of a standard different from the predetermined tone color standard, loadable externally from an external source. In the tone color selecting space, a dedicated area is set for allocating the externally loaded tone color data. Thus, the externally loaded tone color data can be allocated to the dedicated area and selected in response to tone color selection information designating the dedicated area. If the externally loaded tone color data include specific original tone color selection information, the original tone color selection information may be replaced with the tone color selection information designating the dedicated area such that the tone color data can be selected in response to the original tone color selection information. The externally loaded tone color data may be given priority over the tone color data compliant with the predetermined tone color standard so that the externally loaded tone color data can be allocated to an addressable location in the tone color selecting space with storage location allocation corresponding to the original tone color selection information.

Tone color selection apparatus and method

An electronic musical instrument is constructed on a mother board for editing a parameter of an extension board necessary for generating a music tone while monitoring the parameter according to display information. In the instrument, a display device is provided for displaying a current value of the parameter to be edited. An input device is operable for inputting an operational variable effective to change the current value of the parameter. A first control circuit contained in a CPU of the mother board is operative when receiving the display information for controlling the display device to display the current value of the parameter, and is operative when the operational variable is inputted from the input device for transmitting the operational variable to the extension board. A second control circuit composed of a CPU and a RAM is provided in the extension board for memorizing the current value of the parameter so as to generate the music tone, and is operative when the operational variable is transmitted from the first control circuit for updating the current value of the parameter and for transmitting back the display formation indicative of the updated value of the parameter to the first control circuit so that the first control circuit of the mother board can control the display device to display the updated value of the parameter of the extension board.
