The present invention provides a resin molding method for fuel cell separator. The fuel cell separator includes: a resin mold region formed inward a predetermined distance from an edge; a through hole formed at the resin mold region; and a front end region formed between the through hole and the edge at the resin mold region. The resin molding method includes: a die set process that the resin mold region of the fuel cell separator is set in the die such that the front end region is held by a pair of anti-deformation pins of the die; and a resin filling process that a resin is filled in the die, wherein the resin is molded on the resin mold region of the fuel cell separator so as to be filled in the through hole, and a resin member is thereby molded on the resin mold region so as to extend outward from the edge.

Fuel cell separator and molding method for fuel cell separator

A fuel cell according to the present invention includes a power generation cell. The power generation cell is formed by sandwiching a membrane electrode assembly between a first metal separator and a second metal separator. An oxygen-containing gas flow field is formed on one surface of the first metal separator, and a coolant flow field is formed on the other surface of the first metal separator. The first metal separator includes a corrugated metal plate. A resin frame member is provided on one surface of the metal plate, and a rubber seal is provided on the other surface of the metal plate. An oxygen-containing gas supply passage, an oxygen-containing gas discharge passage, a coolant supply passage, a coolant discharge passage, a fuel gas supply passage, and a fuel gas discharge passage extend through the metal plate, the resin frame member, and the rubber seal.

Injection-molding method and apparatus

A seal member is formed integrally on surfaces of a metal separator of a fuel cell. The seal member includes an outer seal and an inner seal provided on a surface of the metal separator. A plurality of closure seals are formed integrally with an inner edge of the inner seal. The closure seals close a space between the inner seal and a protrusion forming a fuel gas flow field.

A fuel cell separator is provided which has in a peripheral part () gas passages () for guiding reaction gases and reaction product passages () for guiding a reaction product. The separator () is made up of a central part () made of metal, a peripheral part () made of a resin material, and an elastic member () connecting the central part and the peripheral part together. A molded article made from a thermoplastic molding material comprises: a multilayer structure portion having a surface layer composed of a non-foamed type of said molding material and an internal layer composed of a foamed type of said molding material; and a portion composed of only a non-foamed type of said molding material. The molded article is produced by injecting and filling an expandable thermoplastic molding material which is melted in the heating cylinder that is adjusted to have the temperature of its tip part higher than that of its rear part, into a cavity having a 10 to 95% volume of the volume of the molded article, conducting a first cooling until the molding material becomes the condition that the surface layer contacted with the metal mold is solidified but the internal layer is melted, enlarging the volume of the cavity to the volume of the molded article to foam at least a part of the internal layer, and conducting a second cooling to take out the molded article.
