A latch device for a vehicle tailgate comprises a latch/ratchet mechanism, an open mechanism, a lock mechanism, and, an actuator for switching the lock mechanism to an unlocked state and a locked state. The lock mechanism includes a lock lever turning about a lock shaft. The actuator includes an output shaft which turns the lock lever through the lock shaft. The lock shaft is structured so that manual operational access is possible through a service hole in the tailgate or the vehicle body for turning the lock lever. One end of the output shaft penetrates a housing of the actuator to be connected to the lock shaft, and the other end of the output shaft is exposed to the outside through a shaft hole of the housing, and the manual access is applied to the other end of the output shaft.

Latch device for vehicle tailgate

A latch device for a vehicle tailgate having a main door and a sub door, comprises a latch lever moving from an initial position to an operating position by a contact with a sub latch, a return spring urging the latch lever from the operating position toward the initial position, and a block lever connected to the latch lever. The block lever is displaced to a blocked position where the door-opening of the main door by the main open handle is impossible when the latch lever is restored to the initial position by the return spring and to be displaced to an unblocked position where the door-opening of the main door by the main open handle is possible when the latch lever is moved to the operating position by the contact with the sub latch against the elasticity of the return spring.

A method for making a striker for a vehicle door latch produces such a striker having a longitudinal plate-like metal base and a U-shaped metal engaging member including a first leg part, a second leg part and a front connecting part. The first leg part has, at a front side portion thereof, a latch engaging part which is engageable with an engaging recess of a latch of the vehicle door latch device. The first leg part has, at a rear side portion thereof, a reinforced large diameter part with a larger diameter than that of the latch engaging part. A length of the reinforced large diameter part is 20% or more in the length of the first leg part.

Striker of vehicle door latch manufacturing method

A trunk lid latch device comprises a latch unit and a striker. The latch unit has a latch engageable with the striker, a ratchet for keeping engagement between the latch and the striker, and an open lever for releasing the ratchet from the latch. An emergency knob formed of a luminous material is coupled to the open lever and accessible from inside the trunk room. The emergency knob is disposed inside a frame member of a trunk lid or a vehicle body so as not to protrude into the trunk room. The emergency knob comprises a printed symbol that suggests an opening of the trunk lid.
