An interactive display apparatus transmits voting information to a vote receiving center. Prior to voting, all voting items are displayed. A mark or a button is also displayed for each voting item and used for selecting one of a plurality of voting items. After one of the voting items is chosen, only the mark assigned to the selected voting item is displayed, erasing the marks for the other unselected voting items. Only the data sampled by a correct sampling clock is data processed. A PLL circuit 5 generates a sampling clock locked with a sync signal in a video signal and supplies to a sampling circuit 4. A lock flag indicating whether the generated sampling clock is correctly synchronized with the sync signal or not is also generated. The data multiplexed to the sync signal is sampled by the above sampling clock. The data is stored in a memory 7. The lock flag is supplied to a controller 2 and the data that is outputted from the memory 7 is made valid or invalid according to the level of the lock flag.

A recording apparatus records a first information signal in a first recording area in a helical track by a rotary head, and optionally records a second information signal in a second recording area preceding the first recording area. The switch timing of the rotary head is determined and the end of the second recording area is detected. A third information signal is recorded between the first and second recording areas at a position which is adjusted based on the switch timing of the rotary head and the detected end point of time of the second recording area.
