A WAP for wireless communications on a selected orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) communication channel of a wireless local area network (WLAN). The transceiver includes: antennas, transmit and receive chain components, a stream separation control circuit, and an Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) removal circuit. The receive chain components include: an equalizer component converting a received uplink communication packet from one or more of the associated stations at an input into discrete communication streams at an output thereof. The stream separation control circuit couples to the equalizer component to control the separation of the communication streams at the output of the equalizer component into groups, with each group comprising all of the communication streams transmitted by a corresponding one of the one or more associated stations. The ICI removal circuit couples to the stream separation control circuit to discretely remove ICI from each group of streams.

Wifi multi-user CPE and ICI mitigation

A method is disclosed for mitigating narrowband interference within a system for wideband communications. The method can include separating a wideband signal into a plurality of sub bands, detecting energy levels in the sub-bands, and activating a control signal if the energy levels of the sub-bands differ by a predetermined amount. Such a difference in energy levels can indicate that narrowband interference is present and interference mitigation features can be activated. In another embodiment, a system is disclosed that has a band splitter and a plurality of energy level detectors to detect energy differences in the sub bands. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Arrangements for narrow band interference detection

In some embodiments a method is disclosed for detecting periodic interference and predicting future interference times. The method can include detecting an arrival time of a first occurrence of interference and detecting an arrival time of a second occurrence of interference. The method can include transmitting preemptive interference mitigation control signals that anticipate future arrival times of interference. A system is disclosed that includes a periodicity detector, an interference profiler and a mitigation control module. The system can provide interference mitigation features to a data recovery system. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Arrangements for acquiring and using data obtained from received interference to facilitate data recovery

In an embodiment, a source device encodes source information corresponding to a frame, assembles an initial data frame that includes the encoded data blocks, and transmits the initial data frame to a destination device. The destination device decodes the encoded data blocks and assembles a restored version of the initial data frame. The destination device identifies corrupted data blocks and uncorrupted data blocks within the restored version, stores the uncorrupted data blocks, generates a message that identifies the corrupted data blocks, and transmits the message to the source device. In response, the source device encodes source information corresponding to the corrupted data blocks identified in the message, assembles a responsive data frame, and transmits the responsive data frame to the destination device. The destination device produces a corrected data frame from the retransmitted data blocks and the previously-stored uncorrupted data blocks.

Data communications methods and apparatus

Embodiments of a decoder and method of decoding blocks of soft bits in a wireless receiver are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, a memory is initialized with encoded input data and updated with sums of extrinsic reliabilities. A wideband signal comprising both a wanted signal and narrowband interference is received in a wideband receiver. The receiver comprises an interference detection unit comprising a set of sub-band filters. A method is disclosed for interference mitigation which can include receiving a signal having a data component, an interfering component and a time period and creating a first plurality of digitized data that represents at least a portion of the interfering component. The method can also include generating a polynomial equation that is related to the at least a portion of the interfering component and generating a second plurality of digital data that represents a data vector of the received signal. The method can further subtract the polynomial equation from the received signal to cancel at least a portion of the interfering component to provide an interference mitigated signal representing the data component.

Arrangements for interference mitigation utilizing estimation

A method is disclosed that includes receiving a signal having a data vector component and an interfering component and creating a first set of digitized data that represents the interfering component. The method can also generate a polynomial equation based on the first set of digitized data and generate a second set of digitized data that represents a data vector component of the received signal. The polynomial equation can be subtracted from the received signal to cancel at least a portion of the interfering component and provide an interference mitigated signal representing the data vector component. An error in the interference mitigated signal can be determined and the interference mitigated component can be recalculated based on the error. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Embodiments of a system and method for signal processing in a wireless communication device are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device comprises a first reconfigurable processing engine for configuration by a processing unit to perform a plurality of baseband processing operations on baseband samples. The processing unit may reconfigure the first reconfigurable processing engine for performing each of the plurality of baseband processing operations after completion of a prior one of the baseband processing operations. A second reconfigurable processing engine for configuration by the processing unit may perform decoding operations on output data generated by the first reconfigurable processing engine.

The transmitter packetizes a retransmission packet according to a modulation scheme in response to a retransmission request from the receiver. The output packet processor determines a transmission iteration of a bit segment of the retransmission packet. When received data blocks are corrupted, encoded versions of the data blocks are stored, and retransmission of the corrupted data blocks is requested. Upon receiving retransmitted data blocks, the retransmitted encoded data blocks are combined with stored encoded data blocks prior to decoding.
