In a motor vehicle having an Internet connection and at least two computer units to which at least one operating location respectively is assigned for using the Internet, each operating location includes at least one display unit and operating devices. By each computer unit, at least one browser application for the display of Internet pages is implementable such that, by way of the input devices, Internet pages can be called at each operating location via Internet addresses and can be displayed on the display unit. An Internet address used at a first operating location, which is assigned to a first computer unit, can be automatically stored in a central address memory such that the Internet address can be made available by an access taking place from a second computer unit to the address memory at a second operating location assigned to this second computer unit. This permits a facilitated address input by the operating devices of the second operating location.

Motor vehicle having an internet connection and method of operating same

A method of configuring infotainment applications in a motor vehicle is provided. A control unit is configurable via a configuration interface such that the functional scope and/or a basic setting of the infotainment application is changed based on first configuration data from a first configuration data server. A service center stationarily arranged at a distance from the motor vehicle has a second configuration data server and a second configuration data bank. The service center has a first modification interface by which configuration data of the second configuration data bank is modifiable using first access rights and a second Internet-based modification interface by which the configuration data is modifiable using second access rights differing from the first. Modifications of the configuration data are recognized and the configuration data of the first configuration data bank is changed by using the configuration data from the second configuration data bank.

Method for configuring infotainment applications in a motor vehicle

A method is provided for updating at least one software component of a motor vehicle. The method operates such that the updating of the software component to be updated is offered to the driver by a service facility outside the vehicle before updating is executed. The updating can be enabled solely by the driver of the motor vehicle in response to the offer. The transmission of vehicle configuration information and identification data to the service facility takes place repeatedly in a time controlled and/or event controlled manner without the involvement and/or notification of the driver.

Method for updating software components

An electric wiring system of a motor vehicle with control devices that communicate with each other via a data bus, and with at least a first communication apparatus inside the vehicle for data exchange with a remote communication station outside the vehicle via a communication channel is provided. To make an authentication of the electric wiring system possible, the first remote communication station outside the vehicle transmits at least one cryptographic key and/or at least one certificate for storage in a first control device of the plurality of control devices via the communication channel to the communication apparatus inside the vehicle. The first control device stores the at least one key and/or the at least one certificate in coded or decoded form and the at least one key and/or the at least one certificate is/are used at least in the framework of an authentication.
