An image processing device receives a multi-spectral image and a panchromatic image of a scene. The device extracts a luminosity subcomponent image from the multi-spectral image and upsamples it to generate a luminosity image of a scale intended for a super-resolved image. For each pixel of the luminosity image, the device performs a series of pixel processing and replacement steps, including extracting a first image patch surrounding the pixel and matching it with a plurality of extracted panchromatic image patches, which are smaller than the first image patch by a ratio of a size of the panchromatic image to a size of the luminosity image. The image processing and replacement of the pixels may be iteratively performed to produce a super-resolved image.

Photographic image acquistion device and method

A photographic image acquisition device comprising a primary image sensor optically coupled to a primary imaging lens and at least one secondary image sensor optically coupled to a secondary imaging lens, the optical axes of the primary and the secondary lenses set parallel to each other, both image sensors set in the same geometric plane, such that both focal planes arrays receive optical projections of the same scene.

The method and system including generating a plurality of full resolution images in Bayer array format (Bayer images) produced by a plurality of image sensors; interpolating a plurality of low resolution Bayer images from the full resolution Bayer images during the readout of the full resolution images from the sensors, storing the full resolution Bayer images and the interpolated low resolution images in a plurality of buffer memories, respectively and without demosaicing the full resolution Bayer images, during the readout of the full resolution Bayer images from the image sensors, by respective plurality of pre-processors; demosaicing the plurality of low resolution Bayer images to generate a corresponding plurality of low resolution demosaiced images, by an image post processor; and transmitting the plurality of low resolution demosaiced images over a computer network to a user for viewing.
