A surgical method and apparatus of repairing a tear, cut or defect in the body tissue, specifically the dura or vascular wall, is disclosed. An inner plate is placed on the tissue's inner surface in a position completely overlapping the tissue defect. An outer plate is placed on the tissue's outer surface in a position completely overlapping the defect and aligned with the inner plate. The inner and outer plates have perimeters larger than the perimeter of the defect and include coiled ribs. The inner plate is coupled to the outer plate such that the peripheral edges of the body tissue defect are securely clamped between the inner and outer plates to provide a watertight repair to the tissue defect.

A shape memory alloy structure comprises at least one tubular member formed of shape memory material, each tubular member including a plurality of panels having side edges, wherein each tubular member is moveable between a radially contracted position and a radially extended position, and wherein the coupled side edges of adjacent panels of each tubular member form hinges for moving the structure between the contracted position and the extended position. Multiple layer tubular structures, methods for forming and fixtures for collapsing same are also disclosed.

A pool guard alarm apparatus includes an alarm body, a triggering device and a relative triggering element. The alarm body accommodates a circuit board and a battery for providing a power source. The circuit board is provided with several buttons and a sound member. The buttons enable an authorized person to bypass the alarm mode. The triggering device located at the entrance to the pool has a movable part which is elastic to be against the relative triggering element. The moveable part will produce a triggering signal to the circuit board when the entrance is opened. The circuit board activates the sound member to produce an alarm sound after a predetermined time. The alarm sound is repeated after a period of time while in the alarm mode. When the entrance is then closed, the user must reset a pass code to activate the said alarm mode.
