According to one aspect, there is provided a method of forming a layer of build material on a build platform of a three-dimensional printing system. The method comprises obtaining characteristics of a build volume to be processed, determining characteristics of a volume of build material to be used to form the layer, forming an intermediate volume of build material having the determined characteristics, and spreading the intermediate volume of build material over the build platform to form the layer.

According to an example, an apparatus may include a hardware processor that is to access a first scanned image, in which the first scanned image corresponds to a scanned first feature of a three-dimensional (3D) object, perform a search for models matching the 3D object based upon the first scanned image, identify, from the search, a first set of candidate models, identify, from the first set of candidate models, a general identity of the 3D object, determine, based upon the identified general identity of the 3D object, a second feature of the 3D object that is to be scanned, and output an instruction to obtain a second scanned image of the determined second feature of the 3D object.

System and methods are disclosed for determining the print path of a printer to facilitate manual duplexing. The method includes instructing a printing device to print a first object on a first side of a test sheet and then instructing a user to reinsert the test sheet in the printing device. The printing device is then instructed to print a second object on the test sheet. The user can further provide information indicating a location of the second object with respect to the first object. Based on the information, the printing path of the printer is determined.
