Content is shared by rendering the content in a shared session and providing the rendered content to the participating devices. The originating device has access to an original version of the content in a virtual session, which is accessed by logging into cloud content services and downloading the desired content into the virtual session. A rendering engine in a rendered session then renders the content and distributes the rendered content to the participants. Only rendered content is provided to the participants, so that the participants cannot see the credentials of the originating user, cannot see the document source and do not have access to the document itself. The participants can mark up the rendered content, which markups are shared to the other participants.

System and method for providing secure cloud-based access and control of cloud based content sources to community devices via federated authorization and personal devices

A telepresence system which includes at least one display device and a beacon coupled to the display device. The beacon emits a signal so as to be discoverable by electronic devices nearby such as in a meeting location. The system also includes a receiver-controller coupled to the beacon, the receiver-controller configured to enable such electronic devices to be recognized and to join a collaborative session in which content from one electronic device can be shared with other electronic devices. The receiver-controller can and will share some or all of its functions with one or more of the joined devices simultaneously, if security and identity protocols are satisfied.

System and method for collaborative telepresence amongst non-homogeneous endpoints

A personal videoconferencing system includes a videoconferencing appliance connected to a personal computer through a Universal Serial Bus (USB) or similar connection. The appliance is provided with a video camera and microphone for generating local video and audio streams. The local video and audio streams are compressed by a video and audio encoder residing at the appliance, and the compressed video and audio streams are conveyed to the personal computer over the USB connection. The appliance may be further provided with an audio decoder for decompressing a remote audio stream received by the personal computer through a network interface and conveyed to the appliance via the USB connection. A video decoder, located on the personal computer, is configured to decompress the local video stream (received through the USB connection) as well as a remote video stream received through the network interface. The decompressed video streams are then sent to a monitor for display to a user. The decompressed audio stream may be played either at a loudspeaker coupled to the audio decoder or at the personal computer.
