The present invention provides improved dual lumen endobronchial tube devices. The dual lumen endobronchial tube devices feature a universal design for left or right mainstem bronchus insertion. The dual lumen endobronchial tube devices also feature enhanced balloon cuff designs to minimize dislodgement while maintaining proper airway sealing. The present invention also includes water activated lubricious coating inside the shaft to reduce friction during insertion of a bronchoscope into the airway. The present invention also provides improved double clamps that prevent the accidental clamping of both tubes of a Y-adapter.

Dual lumen endobronchial tube device

The present invention is a dual lumen endobronchial tube provided with a flexible wall dividing a cylindrical main tube into two lumens, where the outside wall of the main tube is reinforced, preferably by metal wire but alternately by a sufficiently rigid polymer ribbing which will achieve a desired reduction necessary outside wall thickness. The achievement of a reduction in necessary wall thickness enables sufficient hydraulic cross sectional area so that each lumen is capable independently of providing adequate ventilation to a patient even while a ventilation lumen is partly occluded when the insertion end of a bronchoscope or tube is inserted into the adjacent lumen to examine or treat the other lung.

The present invention is a storage and protection device for bronchoscopes having a protection tube of sufficient length to enclose at least a majority of a length of an insertion tube of a flexible bronchoscope. Extending upward from a top end of the protection tube is an upper structure support clamp adapted to releasably secure an upper structure of the flexible bronchoscope so that at least a majority of the length of the insertion tube lies within the protection tube. The upper structure support clamp connection with the upper structure of the bronchoscope preferably allows the insertion tube to hang freely within the protection tube when the protection tube is oriented substantially vertically.

Storage and protection device for bronchoscopes

The present invention is a scalpel blade removal device comprising an opening in a wall defining a first blade guide, extending to a narrowing upward ramp bounded by left and right guide walls. A horizontal top ramp extends from the distal end of the upward ramp, bounded by left and right guide towers. A spring loaded notch device is adapted to lock behind a proximal end of a scalpel blade seated on a scalpel, where the scalpel is inserted in the opening and the blade edge is driven up the ramp to the top ramp. When the notch device is locked behind that end of the scalpel blade, the scalpel is pulled back, causing the scalpel blade to slide off the scalpel handle. A sharps container incorporates the removal device, a reinforced latch, a scalpel resting location, and needle cover removers.

The present invention is a dual function transfer tray that can be used for either a scalpel or a suturing needle holder with suturing needle. A scalpel slot is formed in the bottom of a relatively deep set of sloped walls. A suture needle cavity is formed above the first slot. However, at a mid-section of the scalpel slot and the half-cylindrical suture needle cavity are opposing and deep V-shaped cutaway sections in the sidewalls with a flat floor section between them. A user need never have to focus their attention for more than a split second to discern the location of the mid-section of the transfer tray. The user's thumb and forefinger are aimed at the V-shaped sidewall openings to grasp a midsection of a supported surgical sharps. The scalpel slot and half-cylindrical suture needle cavity are set relatively deep with respect to top edges of the transfer tray and the to form an open tray to prevent a user from being inadvertently injured by a scalpel blade or a suture needle. In addition, the scalpel cannot be placed in the scalpel slot unless it rests on one of its longitudinal edges, preferably the same one as that of its blade edge. Thus, a user grasping the mid-section of the scalpel handle in the cutaway and flat floor section picks up the scalpel in a ready-to-use position.

Transfer tray for surgical sharps

The present invention is a retractable scalpel device with two releasable latching elements. When the scalpel blade is in an extended position, each releasable latching element is accessible for depression by finger pressure to cause retraction of the extended blade. However, the releasable latching elements are located on opposite edges (top and bottom edges) of a cover housing and about halfway along its length. The releasable latching elements must be depressed at the same time for the extended scalpel blade to be retracted into the cover housing.

Retractable scalpel

The present invention is a device where a needle cap rim is captured between a front wall and abutment means behind it. This is done by making aligned slots in the front wall and abutment means with side to side widths greater than the diameter of the needle cap body (without ridges) but less than the outside diameter of the needle cap rim. However, the rim of the needle hub is located outside the front wall slot, where the intervening needle hub rim to needle shaft part of the needle hub passes through the front wall slot and into the needle cap for friction fit contact.

Needle sheathing and unsheathing safety device

An I.V. pole irrigation tower comprises a pole and a base. The base has a hub and legs spaced apart about the hub and extending outwardly at an angle away from the hub. Each leg further includes dual casters secured thereto for moving the base. The pole has a lower end secured to the hub of the base and a plurality of sections fastened together in interlocking relationship. Each section includes a channel for housing a pulley system, the pulley system has a support bar attached thereto for supporting at least one fluid bag. Each section also includes a channel for housing an associated pulley system, the pulley system having a support bar attached thereto for supporting at least one fluid bag. Each section also includes a handle assembly coupled to the pulley system for adjusting the height of the support hanger along the length of the section. A spring-biased lever is coupled to the handle assembly for locking the handle assembly and support bar at a predetermined location along the length of the pole.

I.V. pole and irrigation tower and support system

An assembly for attachment to a conventional operating room light fixture includes a handle and a disposable cover. The handle has an upper portion adapted to be attached to the light fixture. The handle further includes an annular rigid disk at a central portion thereof and an annular ring provided below the annular rigid handle flange and defining a groove therebetween. A grip portion is provided at a lower portion of the handle. The assembly also includes a sterile, disposable cover, including a hollow grip cover having a closed end and a flexible flange formed integrally with the grip cover at an open end thereof and adapted to be fitted over the grip portion of the handle and advanced thereon. The disposable cover further includes a circular rigid cover flange attached to the flexible flange and curved away from the rigid disk when the grip cover is fitted over the grip portion of the handle, with the rigid disk restraining further advancement of the rigid cover flange. The rigid cover flange also includes an opening corresponding to the open end of the grip cover, and a plurality of snaps provided along the circumference of the opening and adapted to be fitted within the groove to securely fit the disposable cover over the handle. For industry-standard handles available with some operating room light fixtures, a light handle adapter may be attached to the standard handle to secure the disposable cover onto the handle. The light handle adapter is slid up the handle toward the light fixture. The light handle adapter may be affixed to the light handle by an adhesive or other mechanical means, and the disposable cover is secured to the light handle adapter.

A disposable case for deposing surgical blades includes a surgical blade removal device for removing a blade from a surgical knife handle. The case has an upper half and a bottom half connected by hinge means for allowing the upper half and the bottom half to be opened or closed, and also includes latches for securing the upper half and the bottom half together. Magnetic means are provided on the bottom half for retaining the blades thereon, with counting indicia provided thereon for designating and counting the blades that are to be disposed. A pad is provided on the outer surface of the upper half for receiving an adhesive tape, wherein the adhesive tape may be peeled from the pad and secured onto portions of the upper half and the bottom half to secure the case in a closed position. The blade removal device comprises a blade seat for receiving the blade, a handle seat for receiving the handle, a dividing wall provided between the blade seat and the handle seat and having a sharp curved edge for separating the blade from the handle, and a restraining wall for restraining the blade from rearward movement once the blade has been positioned in the blade seat and the handle withdrawn rearwardly.

Surgical light cover and light handle adapter

An assembly for attachment to a conventional operating room light fixture includes a handle and a disposable cover. The handle has an upper portion adapted to be attached to the light fixture. The handle further includes an annular rigid disk at a central portion thereof and an annular ring provided below the annular rigid handle flange and defining a groove therebetween. A grip portion is provided at a lower portion of the handle. The assembly also includes a sterile, disposable cover, including a hollow grip cover having a closed end and a flexible flange formed integrally with the grip cover at an open end thereof and adapted to be fitted over the grip portion of the handle and advanced thereon.
