A flow control nozzle for regulating flow of fluid into a pipe comprises a body having a portion that is adapted to be received within an opening in the pipe, wherein the body includes a channel extending from an inlet to an outlet opening into the pipe. The channel includes a first section extending from the inlet and a second section extending to the outlet, wherein the first and second sections are connected at an elbow and wherein the first section has a constant cross-sectional area and the second section has a diverging cross-sectional area. An apparatus for keeping a slotted tubular liner in axial alignment with a seamer head through which it is passing adjusts the spatial position of the seamer head in response to inputs from liner centerline sensors. The seamer head is mounted on a seamer head carrier that is vertically movable relative to a seamer head frame, which in turn is horizontally movable relative to a base structure. A programmable logic controller is programmed to continually poll the liner centerline sensors to determine the position of the seamer head relative to the liner, and to instruct vertical and horizontal axis positioners to move the seamer head as necessary to make the seamer head's rotational axis substantially coincident with the centerline of the liner as the liner passes through the seamer head.

A dispensing cap sealingly mountable within the throat of a beverage container has an open-bottomed flow tube connected to a surrounding skirt by a resilient diaphragm, forming a storage chamber surrounding the flow tube. An annular base cap at the base of the flow tube is releasably engageable with the skirt to close off the bottom of the storage chamber. A downward force applied to the flow tube will resiliently deform the diaphragm and downwardly disengage the base cap from the skirt, thus releasing the contents of the storage chamber into the container. The flow tube extends above the storage chamber and terminates in a flow assembly having a cap sleeve movable between a closed position and a 'consume' position in which the contents of the container can flow through the flow tube and out an opening in the cap sleeve.

A method and apparatus for removing burrs from inside slotted metal liners exposes the burrs to a high-intensity gas flame that effectively oxidizes or incinerates the burrs, without inducing undesirable temperature levels in the parent metal of the slotted liner. This is accomplished using a torch head assembly having multiple gas torch nozzles disposed radially around the circumferential perimeter of the torch head, such that when the torch head is passed through the interior of a slotted liner, the flames are directed toward the interior surface of the liner. Auxiliary oxygen is introduced at the nozzle outlets, resulting in a large increase in flame velocity and intensity and, in turn, an increase in the flame temperature. The auxiliary oxygen may be introduced through annular passages surrounding the nozzles, such that the auxiliary oxygen effectively forms a cylindrical curtain surrounding the flame at each nozzle.
