Examples disclosed herein relate to receiving a record of a data transaction between two participants, creating a ledger entry associated with the record of the data transaction, appending the ledger entry to a subset of a plurality of partial ledgers associated with a blockchain, and updating a table of contents associated with each of the plurality of partial ledgers associated with the blockchain.

Examples disclosed herein relate to a traceability identifier method comprising assigning a traceability identifier to a data element, wherein the traceability identifier comprises a plurality of identifier segments, receiving a request for the data element to be included in an analytics report, determining, according to the traceability identifier, whether the data element is permitted to be included in the analytics report, and in response to determining that the data element is permitted to be included in the analytics report, providing the data element for use in the analytics report.

Traceability identifier

To read data from a storage medium, a magnetization map of the data stored on at least one portion of the storage medium is obtained. The magnetization map is analyzed to obtain intermediate data corresponding to the data stored on the at least one portion of storage medium. Further, the intermediate data is converted into the user data based on format emulation of a data storage format of the storage medium. The conversion of the intermediate data includes decrypting the intermediate data to obtain the user data.

Reading data on a storage medium using magnetization map

A technique includes in a data storage device, sensing a plurality of data streams from a track of storage media as the media moves in a given direction using a plurality of read elements such that at least one of the read elements is redundant. The technique includes combining the data streams to generate a data stream indicating data read from the track.

Tape storage device having at least one redundant read data element

A system including a magnetic tape processing system that includes a read/write head to write to a top surface of a magnetic tape. The read/write head provides a write head field gradient of at least 40 Oersteds per nanometer at the top surface of the magnetic tape. The magnetic tape processing system and the read/write head provide a track density of greater than 8000 tracks per inch, a bit density of greater than 440 kilo-bits per inch, and an aspect ratio of less than 70.

Tape heads are described herein including (i) a first module including a read transducer array with at least one transducer element to read data from a tape, and (ii) a second module including a read transducer array with at least one transducer element to read data from the tape. In examples herein, a lifting member is provided to cause tape lifting the module at a leading position with respect to tape travel direction.

Techniques for operating tape heads are provided. In an example, a method includes detecting a potential at a sensor region, determining a target potential using a transfer function, and applying the target potential to an effector region.

Magnetic tape heads

A method may include receiving a respective tape cartridge of a plurality of tape cartridges by a respective cartridge receiving compartment of a plurality of cartridge receiving compartments and configuring a memory of a tape drive manager to include a plurality of information modules associated with the plurality of tape cartridges, respectively. Each information module may include an internal tape identifier to identify a corresponding tape cartridge and a firmware to cause the tape drive manager to write data to and read data from the corresponding tape cartridge. The method may also include upgrading the respective firmware of a respective information module associated with the respective tape cartridge by the tape drive manager using upgrade information obtained from the respective tape cartridge in the wireless manner based on an affirmative identifier determination.

An example provides a system and method for decreasing a data transfer rate of a linear tape drive. The method includes detecting, within a linear tape drive, a first data transfer rate of a host computing system to determine whether the first data transfer rate is slower than a second data transfer rate of a magnetic tape head within the linear tape drive. The method also includes, in response to determining that the first data transfer rate is slower than the second data transfer rate, deactivating a specified number of data write elements within the magnetic tape head, wherein deactivating the specified number of the data write elements includes decreasing the second transfer rate.

Data transfer of a linear tape drive

Methods and apparatus are provided related to magnetic recording tape. Respective voltage sources are coupled to respective magnetic head components of a tape recording apparatus. Circuitry controls each voltage source independently in accordance with identity information for a magnetic tape, relative humidity within the tape recording apparatus, or other factors. Chemical migration from the tape, and/or plating or erosion of elements of the tape recording apparatus are substantially reduced or eliminated according to the present teachings.

A transducer head apparatus () is disclosed for concurrently transferring data relative to a plurality of tracks on a data carrier. The head apparatus comprises a body () extending longitudinally, the body supporting a plurality of longitudinally spaced transducer elements (), and adjuster apparatus () operable to adjust the relative longitudinal dispositions of at least some of the transducer elements.

Adjusting a transducer head for transferring data

A system and method for reading magnetic tape are provided herein. The system includes a tape head including two read arrays. Each of the two read arrays includes a first set of data read elements of a first channel pitch and a second set of data read elements of a second channel pitch, and the first set of data read elements and the second set of data read elements are interleaved. The tape head also includes a write array located between the two read arrays.

Techniques to use a model associating condition of a tape head with tape head usage are described. The tape head is for use in a magnetic tape drive. In examples, a condition of the tape head is determined using a model. In examples, the model fits determined values of the condition parameter.

Determining tape head condition

Methods and apparatus are provided related to magnetic recording tape. One or more ion emitters are disposed in non-contacting proximity to a passing recording tape. Static electric charges born on the tape are neutralized prior to passing the tape in contact with a read-write head. Migration of chemical constituency from the tape to the head is prevented or significantly reduced with a corresponding elimination or reduction of related problems.

A reader apparatus is disclosed to read data magnetically stored on a storage medium. The apparatus has a sense structure to change resistance in response to a proximity of a stored magnetic field, and a variable magnetic field biasing arrangement to vary an active response length of the sense structure.
