A platform type weighing scale having four platform suspensions mounting a scale platform on a base, a bendable load sensing beam supported by a pair of spaced beam suspensions on the base, first and second transfer means respectively interconnecting first and second pairs of said platform suspensions to each other and to sensing beam at first and second points spaced along the beam to preselected distance from the first and second beam suspensions respectively to apply first and second forces to the sensing beam in a direction transverse thereto that are respectively correlative with the sum of the loads applied to the first and second pairs of platform suspensions, and electrical transducer means for sensing the sum of the moments produced in the sensing beam by the first and second forces.

Platform scale with bendable load sensing beam

A floor scale for measuring body weight having a scale base, a foot platform, an electronic digital weighing system for producing a digital display indicative of the weight applied to the scale platform, and a power switch for controlling the application of power to the electronic digital display system. A weigh cycle control is provided including a kick bar mounted on the scale base at one side of the scale for movement in a generally horizontal direction and adapted to be actuated by the foot of a person before mounting the foot platform, a momentary contact type switch mounted on the scale base for actuation by the kick bar and a timer operated by the momentary contact switch for maintaining the application of power to the electronic digital weighing system for a preselected time interval sufficient for a weighing operation. The electronic digital display system can be of the type in which the weight sensor produces a series of pulses correlative with the weight applied to the foot platform of the scale and a counter for counting the pulses, and the weigh cycle control can include means responsive to operation of the momentary contact type switch means for also resetting the counter. Digital type floor scale with weigh cycle control

A platform type weighing scale including a base and a scale platform and first and second pairs of platform suspensions for mounting the platform on the base at the four corners of a generally rectangular pattern, an elongated load sensing beam supported at spaced points therealong on the base, and first and second transfer means respectively interconnecting the first and second pairs of platform suspensions to the beam at a common point intermediate the spaced beam suspension points to apply a bending load to the beam correlative with the sum of the loads applied to the first and second pairs of platform suspensions, and electrical strain gauge means mounted on the load sensing beam for producing an electrical signal correlative with the bending stress produced in the beam as an indication of the total weight applied to the scale platform.

Platform type weighing scale

A platform type weighing scale including a base, a scale platform, and a unitary weigh frame having spaced parallel torque members and an elongated bendable load sensing beam extending between and ridgidly attached to the torque members. Four frame suspensions engage the torque members to support the weigh frame on the base and four platform suspensions engage the torque members to support the platform on the weigh frame and apply forces to the first and second torque members correlative with the load on the platform and to produce a bending moment in the beam correlative with the sum of the forces applied to the first and second torque members. Electrical transducer means senses bending of the sensing beam as an indication of the weight applied to the scale platform.
