A strip product consists of a metallic substrate, such as stainless steel, and a coating, which in turn comprises at least one metallic layer and one reactive layer. The coated strip product is produced by providing the different layers, preferably by coating, and thereafter oxidizing the coating to accomplish a conductive surface layer comprising perovskite and/or spinel structure.

A coated steel product comprises a metallic strip material which has a coating comprising an electrically insulating layer doped with sodium. The thermal expansion coefficient of said metallic strip material is less than 12&#xd7;10Kin the temperature range 0-600&#xb0; C. Said product may be coated with an electrically conducting layer of molybdenum. The coated steel product is useful as a substrate for flexible Cu(In,Ga)Se(CIGS) solar cells.

Metal strip product

A flexible metallic strip product including a ferritic chromium strip steel material having a coating of an electrically insulating layer of zirconia stabilized with yttrium, said coating being intended to receive a second coating of an electrically conducting layers is disclosed. This coating is very efficient as an electrically insulating layer in flexible solar cells and solid state thin film batteries because it has practically the same thermal expansion coefficient as the steel substrate.

A coated steel strip product with a dense and hard abrasion resistant coating on one side or both sides of said strip substrate is provided. The thickness of said coating is in total maximally 25 &#x3bc;m, the hardness of said coating is at least 600 HV and the tensile strength of the steel strip substrate is at least 1200 MPa. The coating is preferably applied by electron beam evaporation and the coating may be, e.g., of AlO. The coated metal strip is suitable for shaving equipment, medical instruments, utility and industrial knives as well as saw applications.
