A pipette is described which includes a piston for aspirating liquid into and dispensing out of a container in the pipette. The pipette is provided with at least one tracking element which is able to count the magnitude of some variable or variables relating to the amount of use of the pipette, at least one operating device for creating a limit magnitude for each variable, and for giving information when the limit value is exceeded. Thus, the user may, for instance, be warned when he may be exposed to high workload stress possibly causing injuries.

A method for controlling an electronic pipette, which pipette comprises a piston actuated in a cylinder by a motor, which motor is controlled with a control system, which control system is controlled through a user interface for operating the pipette, wherein actual backlash affecting the movement of the piston of the electronic pipette is measured with a system located in the pipette, the measured backlash value is forwarded to the control system of the electronic pipette, and the movement of the piston is adjusted by the control system based on the measured backlash value.

The invention relates to liquid dispensing and concerns a pipette comprising at least one aspiration channel with a piston. At the lower end of the aspiration channel there is an extension channel () and at its end a pipette tip mounting piece () onto which a pipette tip () is attached. On the pipette tip mounting piece there is a surrounding groove () and in the groove a sealing ring (). The width of the groove in the axial direction is at least 1.1 times the thickness of the sealing ring in the axial direction. When the mounting piece is pushed into the pipette tip, the inner wall of the tip can move the sealing ring upwards in the groove. The construction can provide a reliable sealing despite of inherent dimension differences between different tips and mounting pieces.

The invention relates to a pipette, comprising a tip remover element which, upon moving it against a tip, disengages the tip. The remover element is operated with a mechanism, comprising a rotatable ramp member which is provided with a circle-forming ramp surface, including one or more segments within which the ramp surface has a high point and a low point, whereby the ramp surface, upon rotating through a single segment, forces the remover element first to move against the tip and then allows it to return.

The invention relates to a controllable pipette comprising a piston actuated by a motor, a control system allowing actuation of the piston according to a given pipetting function consisting of several steps, setting keys () for selecting the desired pipetting function, a switch (), which activates the function steps when depressed, and a display (). The control system comprises a change function, whose activation enables a change of the selected function in the process of its operation. When the change function can be activated, this is indicated on the display and it can be activated by depressing a given setting key.
