The present invention relates to a system () for supplying an air-fuel mixture to a two-stroke internal combustion engine (), comprising a carburettor () having a throttle valve () and a choke valve (). The system further has a transfer passage () between a crankcase () chamber and a combustion chamber () of said engine (). A supply conduit for additional air () is having an air valve () for said additional air, and said supply conduit for additional air () is being adapted to discharge the additional air into the top portion of said transfer passage () during a portion of a cycle of said two-stroke internal combustion engine (). Further the air valve () is controlled by the throttle valve () so as to affecting a air valve opening state when said throttle valve opening state is affected, and the opening state of said air valve () is delimited by a choked state of said choke valve () regardless of the throttle valve opening state.

System for a two-stroke combustion engine with controlled additional air

A cylinder () for a crankcase scavenged two-stroke engine, comprising a cylinder bore () with centre line () and on opposite sides of the cylinder located closed transfer ducts ('), which cylinder () has an underside () essentially perpendicular towards the cylinder bore (), intended to be connected to a crankcase () in a parting plane (A), and besides an inlet () for air/fuel mixture, the cylinder is provided with at least one inlet (&#x2032;) for additional air to the combustion chamber, which inlet for additional air runs through a cylinder wall () and via a recess in the piston and a transfer port (&#x2032;) leads down into the transfer ducts (&#x2032;). Especially the transfer ducts (&#x2032;) each have an upper section (&#x2032;) leading from the transfer port (&#x2032;) and in a tangential direction in relation to the cylinder bore () and is followed by an essentially right angled bend (3&#x2032;) leading into a lower section (&#x2032;) leading into the parting plane (A), and at least the right-angled bend of each transfer duct is located on opposite sides of an exhaust duct () and during at least a part of the right-angled bend (&#x2032;) the transfer ducts approach each other.
