Embodiments of a multi-channel audio communication device and methods for reducing echoes are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, echo-reduction circuitry may insert training signals into digital audio signals at or below a noise floor and in a non-audible portion of the frequency spectrum based on a spectral mask. Training signals may be generated from spectrum estimates and training sequences. An adaptive filter may generate echo-cancellation signals using filter coefficients generated fawn the training sequences and return-path signals. The echo cancellation signals may remove echo signals from the return-path signals.

Embodiments of an audio communication device and methods for reducing echoes are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, echo-reduction circuitry may insert a training signal into digital audio signals at or below a noise floor and in a non-audible portion of the frequency spectrum based on a spectral mask. The training signal may be generated from a spectrum estimate and a training sequence. An adaptive filter may generate an echo-cancellation signal using filter coefficients generated from the training sequence and return-path signals. A method for processing a signal includes monitoring an over-sampled signal to detect deviations in a number of fill samples, and providing an electronic delay adjustment to a signal path. If a deviation in the number of fill samples is detected, the electronic delay adjustment from the signal path is removed in one or more steps until all of the electronic delay adjustment is removed from the signal path.

A circuit for filtering a radio frequency signal at a given frequency comprises an input terminal, a filter device, and an active AC shunt circuit having first and second input terminals and an output terminal, where the first input terminal of the active AC shunt circuit is connected to the input terminal. The filter device is connected between the input terminal and the second input terminal of the active AC shunt circuit, and is provided for attenuating the radio frequency signal at the given frequency to the second input terminal of the active AC shunt circuit. The active AC shunt circuit is provided for shunting a signal at a frequency other than the given frequency as contained in the radio frequency signal to ground, and for outputting the radio frequency signal as filtered at its output terminal.

A method and an arrangement for detecting a collision in a communication network, such as a WLAN, on which data are sent in frames of variable lengths separated by inter-frame spaces, each frame including a header and a data payload field where the header includes information of the length of the frame, is provided. In a transmission system which makes use of frequency translated signals, said system having a plurality of lines, a method for reducing crosstalk induced on a signal on a first line of said plurality of lines by a signal on a second line of said plurality of lines, comprising estimating a complex coupling factor for the crosstalk, which when multiplied by the signal on the second line estimates the induced crosstalk; and subtracting the estimated induced crosstalk from the signal on the first line. The invention comprises an approximation method for multiplying the complex coupling factor by the signal on the second line that operates on the signal on the second line through pre-rotation, scaling and multiplication by a complex number according to the coupling factor, said complex number being chosen from a bank of predetermined complex numbers so as to obtain the best approximation possible.
