The present disclosure relates to an arrangement comprising a pyrotechnical device and a first mechanical structure. The pyrotechnical device is adapted to, directly, or indirectly, influence the first mechanical structure at a first location, such that the first mechanical structure is exposed to a deformation and/or a displacement. The deformation and/or displacement of the first mechanical structure at the first location is adapted to at a second location, being different from the first location, change a functional mode of the first mechanical structure and/or of a second mechanical structure connected to the first mechanical structure by means of direct mechanical influence. The disclosure further relates to a vehicle comprising such an arrangement.

Arrangement comprising a pyrotechnical device and a first mechanical structure

A connecting device arranged in a motor vehicle releasably connects a structural member of the vehicle to the vehicle chassis and includes a bolt joint system. The connecting device further includes a pyrotechnical charge and an igniter. The igniter detonates the pyrotechnical charge upon receipt of an ignition signal. The pyrotechnical charge is located near the bolt joint system such that, upon detonation, it destroys the connecting function of the bolt joint system and thereby releases the structural member from the chassis.

Connecting device arranged in a motor vehicle and a method for controlling the same

There is described an impact force coupling assembly operable to couple impact forces from an upright member of a road vehicle to a horizontal transverse member thereof during an impact event. The assembly has a first region and a second region, and is operable to be impinged or captured between the members during the impact event. The assembly includes cavities including dividing walls therebetween, the dividing walls extending along the assembly in a direction from the first region to the second region. Capture of the assembly during the impact event is affected by intrusive deformation of the side walls at the regions of the assembly by portions of the transverse member and the upright member. The coupling assembly is preferably fabricated as a unitary extruded aluminum component. The upright member and the transverse member are preferably a heel-kick and a B-pillar respectively of the vehicle.
