A security system including: a detector that senses and detects a physical threat to persons in a protected area; and a defensive weapon in the protected area that deploys to disable a detected physical threat. The defensive weapon can be, for example, a guided ordnance, a guided weaponized UAV, or a combination thereof. Also disclosed are methods of making and using the security system.

System and method for active shooter defense

Embodiments of the disclosure relate to an antenna unit. The antenna unit includes a first antenna plate and a second antenna plate. The second antenna plate is spatially disposed from the first antenna plate. A glass frame is disposed between the antenna plates, defining an internal cavity. The antenna unit also includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a first and second integrated circuits (IC) mounted to the at least one PCB. The first IC is configured to send/receive signals at a first frequency. The second IC is configured to send/receive signals at a second frequency different from the first frequency. The antenna unit also includes a waveguide elements configured to transmit signals at the first and second frequencies through respective first and second waveguide channels. The antenna plates, the glass frame, and PCB comprise a material that transmits at least 50% of incident light in the visible spectrum.

An antenna stack includes a glass cover having an outer face, an inside face opposite the outer face, and a body therebetween. The glass cover additionally has a cavity formed therein, extending into the body from the inside face. The antenna stack further includes an antenna patch positioned within the cavity, and a waveguide layer. The waveguide layer includes polycrystalline ceramic underlying the glass cover. Conductive vias extend through the polycrystalline ceramic and partition the waveguide layer to form feed channels through the polycrystalline ceramic, and major surfaces of the polycrystalline ceramic are overlaid with a conductor having openings that open to the feed channels. The antenna patch is spaced apart from the waveguide layer to facilitate evanescent wave coupling between the feed channels and the antenna patch.

A method and system of Passive Mode Tracking of an item, object or cargo associated with a wireless communication device through existing and future wireless networks is described. The method builds on the observation that for many applications, cargo tracking included, an exact GPS or comparable accuracy method of location is not always necessary, however, the progress or rough movement, is. Therefore it is possible to utilize the tracking units' geographical location based on the registration process of a wireless service and its associated networks to locate the tracking unit. This method improves the size, weight, power consumption and complexity of the tracking unit by removing work from the tracking unit and utilizing the information collected by the wireless system(s) and the network(s) it attaches to. The location of the tracking unit is determined by inquiring of the wireless network the location of the wireless communication device.
