A jetting device and a method of jetting droplets of viscous medium onto a substrate. The jetting device includes a jetting outlet through which the droplets are jetted. The jetting device further includes a wall located at the jetting outlet, downstream of the jetting outlet seen in the jetting direction. The wall is provided with an orifice through which jetted droplets are permitted to pass through. A gaseous flow is provided within the space past the jetting outlet such that an adverse effect on the performance of the jetting device is prevented, the adverse effect resulting from the accumulation of viscous medium residue at the jetting outlet.

Jetting device and a method of jetting device

The invention is a spectrally selective optical coupler with a new geometry and a new principle of action. An optical coupler according to the invention comprises an optical fiber and an external lightguide. In the fiber there is provided a deflector that is operative to deflect light of a predetermined wavelength into a propagating mode of said lightguide. The outcoupled light is transferred to a region remote from the outcoupling portion of the fiber. The invention can be used to couple light from a first to a second optical fiber.

Optical coupler

The invention relates to methods and arrangements for channel balancing of a wavelength division multiplexed optical signal. Channel balancing according to the invention is performed by using a resonator that provides a selection region in which a selected channel has a substantially increased poser density relative to channels out of resonance. The selected channel is attenuated a desired amount, i.e. a desired amount of power is removed therefrom, by adjusting the properties of the selection region. In a preferred embodiment, attenuation is achieved by adjusting the selection region such that destructive interference is obtained for the selected channel in a fiber carrying tile multiplexed optical signal.

Channel balancing of a wavelength division multiplexed optical signal

A method of establishing transmission of light through a chirped Bragg-reflector, a method of analyzing the power spectrum of a light signal using a chirped Bragg-reflector, and an arrangement for analyzing the power spectrum of a light signal. The Bragg-reflector reflects, in an unperturbed state, essentially all incident light within a predefined wavelength range. The methods include the steps of directing the light to be analyzed into an input end of a light guiding structure, such as an optical fiber, which light guiding structure is provided with a Bragg-reflector, and sending an acoustic pulse along the light guiding structure, thereby effectively lowering the reflectance of the Bragg-reflector for a certain wavelength at a certain time. By monitoring the light thus transmitted through the Bragg-reflector, a power spectrum analysis of the incident light is obtained.

Method and arrangement in connection with optical bragg-reflectors

The invention is a spectrally selective optical coupler with a new geometry and a new principle of action. An optical coupler according to the invention includes an optical waveguide and an external resonator. In the waveguide, there is provided a deflector that is operative to deflect light of a predetermined wavelength into the external resonator. Coupling is enhanced by the deflected wavelength being resonant in the external resonator.

Optical coupler with a new geometry

In a pickup head (,) for an automatic component assembly machine a house (,) is provided, which and a transmission (,) is movable in a vertical direction (z-direction) by means of a drive motor (,) and is arranged on a horizontally (x-direction) movable wagon (,). The house (,) carries several pickup devices (,), which are movably mounted in the house and during the movement of the house (,) can be made to selectively accompany this in order to pick components. Therefor, the pickup devices (,) are resiliently biassed to a pulled down position by compression springs (,) and they can further be locked in an upper position by activating solenoids (,). These have locking pins (,), which during activation engage abutments (,) of each pickup device (,). The pickup head (,) can hereby, by driven by a single motor (,) simultaneously pick several components, what gives a quick picking function and hereby a quicker mounting. Further, when mounting of a component, a pickup device can be turned to a desired angular position by activating another drive motor (,). Around the driving wheel (,) thereof runs a toothed belt (,), which simultaneously engages toothed wheels (,) slidable on the pickup devices (,). In this manner an angular adjustment is obtained by means of a single drive motor (,) acting on all the pickup devices (,).

Industrial robot

The invention relates to an industrial robot of a so-called agile type which has a lower arm (16) with double-sided journalling in a stand (12) consisting of two separated, upright parts (12a, 12b), the arm (16) being pivotable in the space between the stand parts. A pivot shaft (24) for pivoting the upper arm of the robot via a crank and a parallel link rod from one of the stand parts (12a) and through a lead-in opening (28) in the lower arm (16). From the other stand part (12b) there extends a drive shaft (30), which is substantially coaxially opposite to the pivot shaft (24) of the crank (22) and which is connected to the lower arm (16).
