The object of the invention is an arrangement and a guide rail bracket for fixing the compensating weight guide rails of an elevator.

An elevator includes an elevator car and lifting machinery including a traction sheave, an electromechanical machinery brake, and an electric motor having a rotor. The traction sheave, the electromechanical machinery brake and the rotor of the electric motor are connected via a shaft, whereby the lifting machinery moves the elevator car upwards and downwards in a vertically extending elevator shaft controlled by a main control unit. The direction of rotation and the rotation speed of the rotor of the electric motor is detected with a sensor, the amplitude of the brake current provided to the machinery brake is measured, the amplitude of the brake current is increased until a first moment when the shaft and thereby also the rotor of the electric motor starts to rotate, which is detected by the sensor, the brake current is disconnected momentarily at the first moment, the torque acting on the shaft and the corresponding load in the elevator car at the first moment is determined based on the measured amplitude of the brake current at the first moment, whereby said torque is used in the main control unit for controlling the lifting machinery.

Method for controlling an elevator

A ladder support bracket has a support shoulder for creating a support contact with a complementary backup. The bracket includes at least one jaw for joining the bracket to an upstanding rail of a ladder, the jaw having also a retainer mechanism by means of which the bracket&#x2014;when being attached to a rail of a ladder&#x2014;can be brought into a clamping position attaching the bracket unmovably to the rail and a release position holding the bracket in a swivel connection relative to the rail and/or movably along at least a section of such rail.

The elevator car includes a floor, a ceiling, and side walls connecting the floor and the ceiling. At least the inner surface of at least some of the side walls of the elevator car may be covered with sheets of board. The board includes a fire retardant plywood having a front surface and an opposite back surface. The front surface of the fire retardant plywood may be coated with a first material layer including a fire retardant laminate. The fire retardant laminate may be attached with heat resistant or fire retardant glue to the fire retardant plywood. The back surface of the fire retardant plywood may be coated with a second material layer having a same thickness and a same material properties as the laminate.

Elevator car

An elevator includes at least an elevator car arranged to move reciprocally in an elevator hoistway and fitted on guide rails, a plurality of landing doors having landing door locks openable e.g. with a service key, and a safety arrangement arranged to form a safe space, preferably a working space, in the elevator hoistway below the elevator car, access to which safe space is enabled via at least one landing door in the proximity of the base of the elevator hoistway, and/or a safe space, preferably a working space, above the elevator car, to which access is enabled via at least one landing door leading to the roof of the elevator car, and in which elevator the aforementioned safe space has a minimum height. The formation of each safe space is arranged to be implemented as a consequence of the opening occurring, e.g. with a service key, from a floor level of a landing door enabling access into the elevator hoistway.

Elevator and means for forming a safety space

The object of the invention is an elevator car intended for transporting people and freight, in an elevator wherein the elevator car is supported resting on suspension members and arranged movably in an elevator hoistway when moved by a hoisting machine. At least the floor and roof of the elevator car are composed of dimensionally precise modular elements fabricated by casting, extruding and/or pressing into their shapes and dimensions.
