An electronic device may include communications circuitry, sensing circuitry, and a set of antennas having first and second feeds for covering different polarizations. The communications circuitry may transmit signals with a first polarization using each of the antennas and may concurrently transmit signals with a second polarization using all but a selected one of the antennas. The sensing circuitry may concurrently transmit sensing signals with the first polarization using one of the antennas and may receive sensing signals with the second polarization using the selected antenna. The sensing signals may include chirp signals generated to include muted periods that correspond to a range of frequencies that overlap frequencies at which the wireless circuitry is subject to radio-frequency interference. This may allow for concurrent wireless communications and sensing operations without interference between the communications circuitry and the sensing circuitry.

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions using a reduced number of antennas (e.g., a number of transmit antennas that is smaller than a number of layers of the MIMO transmission). The MIMO transmission may communicate multiple streams of data to a second wireless device. The MIMO transmission may further be used for sensing applications, e.g., based on reflection of the MIMO transmission.

In some embodiments, a testing system includes a beamformer radio frequency system, in which the beamformer radio frequency system includes first transceiver circuitry and a first plurality of antennas coupled to the first transceiver circuitry, a beamformee radio frequency system, in which the beamformee radio frequency system includes second transceiver circuitry and a second plurality of antennas coupled to the second transceiver circuitry, one or more wired connections coupled between the first transceiver circuitry of the beamformer radio frequency system and the second transceiver circuitry of the beamformee radio frequency system, in which each of the one or more wired connections bypasses the first plurality of antennas of the first radio frequency system and the second plurality of antennas of the second radio frequency system.

Radio frequency beamforming calibration systems and methods

Methods and systems for substantially simultaneously scan of two or more frequencies using one transceiver are discussed herein. For example, a listening device can include a controller configured to control its transceiver to alternate between two or more frequencies from two or more sets of frequencies. The controller is also configured to capture a portion of a preamble of a received signal to determine whether the received signal is intended for the listening device.
