Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for controlling emergency calling. In some example embodiments, there may be provided a method that includes receiving, at a user equipment, an indication for controlling whether the user equipment makes an emergency call over a fifth generation radio access technology or over another radio access technology as a fallback; and making, by the user equipment, the emergency call based on the received indication. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

In a communication system providing a group communication service and advertisement of an existing and newly created group, information on usable media types in the group is sent to group members in a message advertising the group. The message contains either a new field for the information or an existing field is extended to contain the information.

An apparatus includes at least one memory including computer program code and at least one processor. Group communication for a variety of media types and devices

A system for updating communication services includes user equipment configured to communicate using a first communication service standard and a second communication service standard, a subscriber database, an application server, and a network device. The network device detects an update trigger corresponding to a user equipment, requests that the user equipment discontinue using the first communication service standard, and flags the user equipment as updated by communicating with the application server and the subscriber database. The network device also receives a communication from the user equipment and determines whether the communication corresponds to the first communication service standard or the second communication service standard. If the communication corresponds to the first communication service standard the network device communicates an error message to the user equipment. However, if the communication corresponds to a second communication service standard, the network device processes the communication.

A method for handling service failures for in a communications network comprising a user equipment, a first network element and a serving network element, the method comprising the following steps. The invention provides a method and system for handling a session setup procedure initiated by an user equipment for establishing a session of a specific type to a called entity, wherein a session setup request sent to a network entity for establishing the requested session, includes location information and an identifier for identifying the called entity. Activation of services in a communication system

Disclosed is a method in an application server. A request for initiating a communication session is received, and responsive to the request including a first service identifier pertaining to a service not supported by the application server, the first service identifier is removed from the request. A response to the request is received, and responsive to having removed the first service identifier from the request and the response including a second service identifier pertaining to the same service as the first service identifier, the second service identifier is removed from the response.

Use of communication service identifiers

The invention relates to a method and system for establishing an emergency session in a communication system which includes at least one user equipment and one or more network entities involved in establishing an emergency session. When the user equipment initiates a session by sending a message to a network entity indicating an identifier, e.g. the call number or logical name of a called entity, one of said network entities analyses the received identifier. When detecting that the session to be initiated is an emergency session, an information is returned to the user equipment for informing the latter that the initiated session is an emergency session. The user equipment thereupon initiates the execution of an emergency session. Thus, even when the user equipment is unable to detect, by itself, that the intended session is an emergency session, the network will inform the user equipment on the emergency session for ensuring appropriate handling thereof.

Method and system for resetting nodes in communication systems

The invention relates to a method and system for enabling a callback from an entity to an equipment initiating a session wherein nodes involved in handling the session, are adapted to store information for the session, preferably for a predetermined time from the beginning of the session. The information includes an address of at least one other node in the signalling path, and may also include an identity of the equipment. The at least one other node will be used, in case of callback, to carry signalling related to callback from the entity to the equipment. Preferably, signalling bearer for establishing the session is maintained for a certain time from the beginning of the signalling bearer activation. The nodes preferably are IMS nodes and include P-CSCF, S-CSCF, or MGCF node.
