An entangled quantum system can be generated using entanglement-generating circuits that operate non-deterministically. Multiple instances of the entanglement generating circuit can be operated and outputs of successful instances can be propagated. The circuit can be implemented such that a photon that is part of the final output state passes through as few as one or two active switches from generation to the final output state.

Method and system for multiplexing signals

A quantum computing system and methods for performing fusion based quantum computing on encoded qubits. A fusion controller sequentially performs a series of fusion measurements on respective photonic quantum modes of first and second encoded qubits to obtain a respective series of classical measurement results. For respective fusion measurements of the series of fusion measurements, a basis for performing the respective fusion measurement is selected based on classical measurement results of previous fusion measurements. An encoded fusion measurement result is determined based on the classical measurement results, and the encoded fusion measurement result is stored in a memory medium.

A fusion controller sequentially performs a series of fusion measurements on different fusion sites of a plurality of fusion sites to obtain a respective series of classical measurement results. A method of fusing qubits includes providing, to a Hadamard gate: a first qubit; a second qubit; and a Bell pair comprising a fourth qubit that is entangled with a fifth qubit. The method further includes determining whether the Hadamard gate was successful in producing a fused qubit. The method further includes in accordance with the determination that the Hadamard gate was successful in producing fused qubit, outputting the fused qubit.

Typically, quantum systems are very sensitive to environmental fluctuations, and diagnosing errors via measurements causes unavoidable perturbations. Here, an in situ frequency-locking technique monitors and corrects frequency variations in single-photon sources based on resonators. By using the classical laser fields used for photon generation as probes to diagnose variations in the resonator frequency, the system applies feedback control to correct photon frequency errors in parallel to the optical quantum computation without disturbing the physical qubit. Our technique can be implemented on a silicon photonic device and with sub 1 pm frequency stabilization in the presence of applied environmental noise, corresponding to a fractional frequency drift of &#x3c;1% of a photon linewidth. These methods can be used for feedback-controlled quantum state engineering. By distributing a single local oscillator across a one or more chips, our approach enables frequency locking of many single photon sources for large-scale photonic quantum technologies.

Scalable feedback control of single-photon sources for photonic quantum technologies

A photon source to deliver single photons includes a storage ring resonator to receive pump photons and generate a signal photon and an idler photon. An idler resonator is coupled to the storage resonator to couple the idler photon out of the storage resonator and into a detector. Detection of the idler photon stops the pump photons from entering the storage resonator. A signal resonator is coupled to the storage resonator to couple out the signal photon remaining in the storage resonator and delivers the signal photon to applications. The photon source can be fabricated into a photonic integrated circuit to achieve high compactness, reliability, and controllability.
