The display of images, such as panoramic images, in a limited display space can be aided through the use of motion-based control, whereby a user can rotate and/or translate a computing device in order to view different portions of the image, including translating or zooming within the image. Sensors can be used to determine the motion for adjusting the display. The same or other sensors can also assist a user in capturing such an image. For example, a compass can determine the relative orientation of the device and a gyroscope can determine rotation of the device, to determine an appropriate path of motion for the capture and any deviation from that path. The user can be provided with information enabling the user to follow the path with an appropriate device orientation.

Motion-based image views

Technologies are disclosed for generating and publishing multi-platform application binaries from hosted websites or website source code. A developer can provide source code for a website or a link to a hosted website and identify target platforms for which application binaries should be created. The website is then modified for optimized presentation on devices on the specified target platforms. For example, page layouts, menu styles, image resolutions, and other aspects of the website can be modified for presentation on a mobile device, a tablet, a set top box, or other type of device. Source code is then generated for the target platforms that includes a web view component for rendering the website. A cross-platform compilation service then compiles the source code to generate native applications for the target platforms. The generated applications can then be provided to the developer or automatically submitted to application stores associated with the target platforms.

Generating and publishing applications for multiple platforms

Processes are disclosed for generating share recommendations for sharing content based at least in part on associated metadata of the content (e.g., geo-location of the content, the date/time of the content, subject matter of the content, etc.). A quick share system may track an individual's share history, including people with whom the individual has shared content, the date/time the content was shared, the geo-location of the individual when the content was shared, etc. Share recommendations indicating one or more suggested people with whom the individual may wish to share content may be generated for the individual, based at least in part on some of a current time/date, the individual's current location, the content metadata, the individual's share history. Share recommendations may also be based in part on an event associated with the content, user feedback data for shared content, and content analysis such as image analysis for digital images.

A computing device can enable a user to navigate to an application or other digital object directly from a lock screen of the device. A user can specify a credential, such as a short code, that is associated with a specific application. If the credential is recognized, the device can be unlocked and the corresponding application displayed. The user can then be granted full or partial access to functionality and/or data of the device, as may depend at least in part upon the type of credential or a level of access specified for the credential. The credential can be based at least in part upon, or independent of, a general unlock credential for the device. In some embodiments, the user can be able to specify the amount and/or type of access to be granted under a credential, such as access only to utilize the corresponding application.

The display of images, such as lenticular images, in a limited display space can be aided through the use of motion-based control, whereby a user can rotate and/or translate a computing device in order to cause different views of a lenticular image to be displayed. Sensors can be used to determine the motion in order to select the appropriate view to display. Approaches can further assist the user in creating lenticular images. The user can specify various configurations in which to display different views in a lenticular. If the user is capturing the images, one or more previously-acquired images can be used as a guide to help the user to align the images. Various processing can be performed to cause the individual views of the lenticular to match as closely as possible in factors such as alignment, brightness, and color range, among other such options.
