The present invention concerns a method for designing and manufacturing a snowmobile platform. The method entails designing and manufacturing a group of tunnel subassemblies, designing and manufacturing a group of engine cradle subassemblies, and designing and manufacturing a group of front suspension subassemblies. Next, one tunnel subassembly, one engine cradle subassembly, and one front suspension subassembly are selected from each respective group. Then, the tunnel subassembly is connected to the engine cradle subassembly at a rear portion thereof. Finally, the front suspension subassembly is connected to the engine cradle subassembly at a front portion thereof to create the snowmobile platform. The present invention also concerns a snowmobile platform constructed according to this method, which combines, among other elements, a tunnel subassembly, an engine cradle subassembly, and a front suspension subassembly.

Method of assembling a modular snowmobile platform

A snowmobile straddle seat assembly designed to accommodate one, two or three riders. The seat may have a continuous surface including three seating positions thereon or it may include separate seat portions where the separate seat portions may be selectively removed to provide storage space and a variety of seat configurations.

A suspension system for an ATV is provided that includes a torsion control mechanism having a left connecting structure and a right connecting structure. The torsion control mechanism defines an axis of rotation passing through the left and right connecting structures. A left swing arm is fixedly connected to the left connecting structure and a right swing arm is fixedly connected to the right connecting structure, such that the right and left swing arms are pivotable about the rotation axis defined by the torsion control mechanism.

A frame for an ATV comprises a support module with a central opening defining an engine receiving space. The support module includes a first frame member and a second frame member with at least one cross member extending between the first and second frame members. At least a portion of the support module, which includes one of the frame members and the at least one cross member, consists essentially of a single beam. The single beam may be considered a modular central beam of the frame.

Frames for all-terrain vehicles

A system reduces the amount of work exerted by an ATV operator to change transmission gears. The system includes a foot lever assembly with a mechanical portion, such as a mechanical linkage, attached to an automated portion, such as an electrical switch. When the ATV operator applies a predetermined amount of force to the foot lever assembly, a clutch assembly and a gear box are actuated in a single motion, assisted by the automated portion of the foot lever assembly. Thus, the operator is able to exert less work in order to change the gears.
