Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed herein for beam domain preprocessor input type selection and parameter determination. A device may determine a beam domain preprocessing input type based on at least one of: a rank threshold, a performance metric, or a channel condition. The device may preprocess channel state information (CSI) based on the beam domain preprocessing input type. The device may compress the preprocessed CSI. The device may send the compressed preprocessed CSI (e.g., and an indication of the beam domain preprocessing input type).

Beam domain preprocessor input type selection and parameter determination

Transmit and/or receive beamforming may be applied to the control channel transmission/reception, e.g., in mmW access link system design. Techniques to identify candidate control channel beams and/or their location in the subframe structure may provide for efficient WTRU operation. A framework for beam formed control channel design may support varying capabilities of mBs and/or WTRUs, and/or may support time and/or spatial domain multiplexing of control channel beams. For a multi-beam system, modifications to reference signal design may discover, identify, measure, and/or decode a control channel beam. Techniques may mitigate inter-beam interference. WTRU monitoring may consider beam search space, perhaps in addition to time and/or frequency search space. Enhancements to downlink control channel may support scheduling narrow data beams. Scheduling techniques may achieve high resource utilization, e.g., perhaps when large bandwidths are available and/or WTRUs may be spatially distributed.

Downlink control channel design and signaling for beamformed systems

Methods, systems, and devices for in-channel narrowband (NB) companion air interface (CAI) assisted wideband (WB) random access channel (RACH) access. Periodic NB downlink (DL) synchronization sequences are detected. Range information is estimated by measuring the periodic NB DL synchronization sequences; and determining an NB CAI RACH occasion. The range information is transmitted to a gNode B (gNB), or other base station, in a NB CAI RACH procedure. At least one selected WB sequence based on the range information and at least one scheduled WB RACH occasion based on the NB CAI RACH occasion are received from the gNB. A contention free WB RACH procedure is performed based on the received at least one selected WB sequence and the at least one scheduled WB RACH occasion.

In-channel narrowband companion air-interface assisted wideband RACH procedures

A method and apparatus for power control for distributed wireless communication is disclosed including one or more power control loops associated with a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). Each power control loop may include open loop power control or closed loop power control. A multi-phase power control method is also disclosed with each phase representing a different time interval and a WTRU sends transmissions at different power levels to different set of node-Bs or relay stations during different phases to optimize communications.

Uplink power control for distributed wireless communication

A base station may sense, on a cell using unlicensed spectrum, that the unlicensed spectrum is available for transmission. The base station may transmit, after sensing that the unlicensed spectrum is available, consecutive subframes. Each subframe may include a physical downlink control channel and a physical downlink shared channel.

Wireless operation in unlicensed spectrum

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed herein associated with enabling target localization with bi/multi-static measurements in new radio (NR). Bi-static or multi-static configurations with potential targets may be formed with nodes (e.g., WTRUs, gNBs, etc.) of mobile wireless communication systems, for example, to enable target localization applications. Target localization may be enhanced based on using determined configurations to reduce target localization estimation errors.

Enabling target localization with bi/multi-static measurements in NR

A wireless transmit/receiver unit (WTRU) is configured to receive sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration information. The SRS configuration information indicates a plurality of SRS configurations and indicates antenna transmission information. The WTRU is configured to receive SRS trigger information. The SRS trigger information comprises an indication to trigger transmission of one of the plurality of SRS configurations. The WTRU is configured to transmit a plurality of SRS associated with the indication in the SRS trigger information and based on the SRS configuration information. At least a first SRS of the plurality of SRS is transmitted over a first antenna port in a first symbol and at least a second SRS of the plurality of SRS is transmitted over a second antenna port in a second symbol.

Uplink sounding reference signals configuration and transmission

Systems, devices and methods for a backscatter measurement based multiple RACH preamble transmissions are disclosed. A WTRU may receive a JCS-RS configuration comprising a minimum RACH preamble retransmission interval. The JCS-RS configuration may comprise a JCS backscatter power fraction (λ) of the WTRU transmit power (P). The WTRU may transmit a RACH preamble in a RACH occasion corresponding to a preferred SS/PBCH Index using an initial WTRU transmit beam, having an associated first RA-RNTI value. The backscatter power (P) may be measured using the WTRU receive beam corresponding to the WTRU transmit beam used for the RACH preamble transmission. On a condition that P>λP, the WTRU may retransmit the RACH preamble after a retransmission interval, on resources associated with a second RA-RNTI value. The WTRU may be configured for monitoring the PDCCH common search space with the first RA-RNTI and the second RA-RNTI, for respective RAR window intervals.

Joint communication and sensing aided random access channel

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive assignment information for receiving a first codeword using a first modulation and coding scheme (MCS) in a first set of resource blocks (RBs), and a second codeword using a second, different MCS in a second set of RBs. The first and second sets of RBs may be in a first time interval in a first bandwidth part using a first subcarrier spacing. The WTRU may receive, in symbols of the first time interval in the first bandwidth part, the first codeword using the first MCS in the first set of RBs and the second codeword using the second, different MCS in the second set of RBs. At least a portion of the first codeword and at least a portion of the second codeword may be received in at least a first symbol in the symbols in the first time interval.

Physical (PHY) layer solutions to support use of mixed numerologies in the same channel

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for phase noise reference signal (PNRS) transmission, comprising receiving, at a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), scheduling information for a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) transmission, wherein the scheduling information includes an indication of a set of physical resource blocks (PRBs) and a modulation coding scheme (MCS) level, determining a density for the PNRS transmission based on at least one of: the MCS level, a frequency band for the PUSCH transmission, or a subcarrier spacing of the PUSCH transmission, and transmitting the PUSCH in the scheduled set of PRBs using the determined density of PNRS.

Reference signal design for wireless communication systems

A method performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include receiving a configuration message including timing information for monitoring at least a subset of a plurality of beams to receive a set of synchronization signals and receiving the set of synchronization signals based on the timing information. The received set of synchronization signals include a primary synchronization signal and a secondary synchronization signal. The method may include receiving a reference signal along with a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) transmission. The reference signal comprises a sequence that is derived from an index associated with one of the at least the subset of beams and associated with the received set of synchronization signals. The method may include transmitting a random access channel (RACH) transmission. The RACH transmission includes a preamble sequence corresponding to the one of the subset of the plurality of beams.

Method and apparatus for initial cell search and selection

An Evanescent Cell (EC) refers to a WTRU-centric cell exploiting highly directional transmissions. An EC may comprise one or more beams from one or more BSs/gNBs/TRPs that may be operated by the same or different operators. An EC may be created utilizing knowledge of radio planning having detected the presence of one or more WTRU. A Beam-Group (BG) refers to a group of beams associated with an EC. All beams associated with an EC may be categorized into multiple BGs. Each BG may be made up of one or more beams from multiple BSs/gNBs/TRPs. Multiple BGs within an EC may be enabled to ease the burden of cell management. In one or more embodiments, there may be systems, procedures, and/or devices for EC/BG detection, deactivation, activation, selection, reselection, and augmentation. Further, there may be one or more embodiments for hierarchical system information acquisition as they relate to ECs/BGs.

Idle/inactive mode operations in highly directional UE-centric systems

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for physical (PHY) layer multiplexing of different types of traffic in 5G systems. A device may receive a communication. The communication may include a first traffic type. The device may monitor the communication for an indication that the communication includes a second traffic type that is multiplexed with and/or punctures the first traffic type. An indicator received in the communication and detected by the monitoring may indicate where the second traffic type is located in the communication. The first traffic type and the second traffic type may be multiplexed at a resource element (RE) level. For example, a first traffic type may be punctured by a second traffic type at the RE level. The device may decode one or more of the first or second traffic types in the communication based on the indication.

PHY layer multiplexing of different types of traffic in 5G systems

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for providing Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) techniques for a non-terrestrial network. For example, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit, to a satellite base station (BS), uplink (UL) feedback that includes configuration information for redundancy versions (RVs) and cross redundancy versions (cRVs). The WTRU may receive one or more first RVs associated with a first transport block (TB). The WTRU may receive one or more second RVs associated with a second TB and at least one cross redundancy version (cRV) associated with the first TB and second TB. The cRV may include parity bits generated from both the first TB and second TB. If at least one of the first TB or the second TB is unsuccessfully decoded, the WTRU may decode the first TB and second TB jointly based on the at least one cRV.

Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) techniques for non-terrestrial networks

Methods and apparatus are described. A method, implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes monitoring a first control channel search space (SS) associated with a first normal beam set comprising a first beam set. The WTRU initiates extended monitoring and monitors, subsequent to a trigger based on a measurement by the WTRU, a control channel SS associated with an extended beam set comprising the first beam set and one or more additional beam sets. The WTRU determines a second beam set from the extended beam set. The determination is based on a received control channel beam switch command or based on a control channel SS in which a beam switch command is received. The WTRU monitors a second control channel SS associated with a second normal beam set comprising the determined second beam set.
