Devices, systems, and methods are provided for a front light for use with reflective displays. A display device (such as an e-reader, for example) may include a light source and a light guide able to receive first light from the light source. The light guide includes a plurality of extraction features that control optimal movement of light emitted by the light source through a display stack of the display device. The extraction feature is provided in a wedge shape at an angle such that when light refracts from the extraction feature, it is directed towards the reflective LCD display at an incidence angle close to the display normal for the reflected light to exhibit similar properties as the reflected light from the EPD panel.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for voice activated devices with integrated heatsinks and speakers. In one embodiment, an example device may include a light ring, a first light emitting diode, a heatsink having a first side and a second side, and a speaker assembly coupled to the first side of the heatsink assembly. The heatsink and the speaker assembly together may form a first sealed cavity. The device may include a reflector component coupled to the second side and configured to direct light towards the light ring. The reflector component may optionally include a substantially linear member and a bent member.

Example devices may include a reflector component configured to reflect light towards the elongated light bar, and a diffuser positioned adjacent to the elongated light bar. The diffuser may include a first curved portion and a flat portion, and the first curved portion may be substantially aligned with the first LED.

A plurality of one type of LEDs are positioned along an injection line of a light guide panel, and are interleaved with a plurality of another type of LED positioned along the injection line. By controlling the current supplied to each group of LEDs, a color temperature value of light directed onto a display screen from the light guide panel may be adjusted to remove or reduce blue aspects.

In one embodiment, an example display sheet may include a first layer and a plastic layer coupled to the first layer. The plastic layer may include a first portion with a first set of mirrors embossed on a surface of the plastic layer, where the first set of mirrors comprises a first tilt angle and a first roll angle. The plastic layer may include a second portion with a second set of mirrors embossed on the surface, where the second set of mirrors comprises a second tilt angle and a second roll angle. The display sheet may be configured to reflect light in a horizontal field of view and a vertical field of view with respect to a projector positioned to direct light at the display sheet.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for mountable clear displays and projection systems. In one embodiment, a system may include a mirror surface and a transparent display sheet adhered to the mirror surface. The transparent display sheet may include a blue phosphor layer that absorbs light having the first wavelength and emits light having a fourth wavelength of about 460 nm, a green phosphor layer that absorbs light having the second wavelength and emits light having a fifth wavelength of about 530 nm, a red phosphor layer that absorbs light having the third wavelength and emits light having a sixth wavelength of about 625 nm, and a blue light blocking layer attached to the red phosphor layer of the transparent display sheet, the blue light blocking layer configured to absorb blue light passing through the transparent display sheet.

Mountable clear displays and projection systems

A projection system projects images onto a surface as part of an augmented reality environment. Users may interact with the images and this interaction is captured as feedback to the system. The projection system includes a refractive beam steerer to direct the projected images onto specific surfaces within the environment, even if the surfaces are moved about the area. The beam steerer has multiple wedge-shaped prisms that are independently movable to steer the projected light beam as desired. Additionally, an infrared (IR) device may be used to illuminate the environment with IR light, and the IR light may be emitted along a common optical path through the refractive beam steerer as used by the projected light beam.

A device includes a projection and camera system to create an augmented reality environment in which images are projected onto a scene and user movement within the scene is captured. The projection and camera system have a camera to image scattered IR light from the scene and compute time of flight values used in depth mapping of objects in the room. The system also has a projector to project the images onto the scene. The projected images and scattered IR light use a common optical path through the same lens. Additionally, an illumination system used to illuminate the scene with the IR light may also use the common optical path through the same lens. In one implementation, the projection and camera system are mounted in a movable head of a table lamp.

An electronic device including an illuminator and a camera configured for performing iris recognition while the user holds the device. The lens of the camera comprises four molded plastic elements with eight aspheric surfaces at a total thickness of only 3.4 mm that provides a mildly distorted image 1.2 mm across. The relative aperture is 3.5 with a fixed focal distance, providing a depth-of-field spanning a fixed focus region of at least 10 cm in depth that is 25 to 35 cm (centimeters) from the eye. The illuminator comprises a near-IR LED in a Cassegrain telescope configuration for efficient directing of flux toward the eye, thereby conserving device volume and electric energy use.

An f-theta lens system for a camera that provides a wide field-of-view, relatively low distortion, and a compact footprint. The lens system comprises four molded plastic elements with seven aspheric surfaces. Within a total thickness of 2.5 millimeters, the system is able to provide an image that is 1.2 millimeters across with a horizontal field of view of 127 degrees. The images produced by the system are well-suited for use with conventional face tracking algorithms designed to process rectilinear images produced by cameras with a narrower field of view.

The method further includes outputting first, second, third, and fourth signals indicative of first, second, third, and fourth intensities, respectively, of the second, third, fourth, and fifth light rays, respectively, utilizing a sensor array disposed on the focal plane. The method further includes determining first, second, third, and fourth Stokes parameters for a pixel of the sensor array based on the first, second, third, and fourth signals, respectively, utilizing a computer.
