An aspect of the invention refers to a system for cleaning an external vehicle-mounted sensor surface. The system comprises an air nozzle arranged to discharge air onto a sensor surface; an air pump comprising a fluid inlet, an air outlet, an air-fluid interface and a variable volume compression chamber communicated with the air outlet; an air flow control device communicated with the air nozzle and the air outlet for controlling the flow of air therethrough; and a liquid pump communicated with the fluid inlet to supply a flow of pressurized liquid such that the volume of the compression chamber varies to generate a volume of pressurized air with an absolute pressure below 10 bar.

System and method for cleaning a vehicle-mounted sensor

A fluid-ejection device includes a first member having a fluid inlet; a second member that can be moved relative to the first member; and a control member arranged to be at least in a first condition, in which the control member is at least substantially inside the second member during a first stroke of the second member in which fluid flow through the second member and discharge is prevented; and a second condition, in which the control member is at least substantially outside the second member during a second stroke of the second member, allowing fluid flow through the second member and discharge. A seal member has a first surface engaged with the first member, a second surface engaged with the second member, and a third surface arranged to be engaged with the control member in the first condition.

Fluid ejection device

The fluid-ejection device () comprised a first member () having an inlet suitable for being connected to a source of fluid (); a second member () that can be moved relative to the first member (); and a control member () arranged to be at least in a first condition, in which the control member () is at least substantially inside the second member () preventing the flow of fluid through the second member () to define a first stroke (S) of the second member () where no discharge of fluid is allowed out of the device (); and a second condition, in which the control member () is at least substantially outside the second member () allowing the flow of fluid through the second member () to define a second stroke (S) of the second member () along which discharge of fluid is allowed out of the device ().

The present invention refers a system and a method for automatically cleaning an optic lens mounted on a vehicle, by spraying a washing liquid to remove any type of dirt from the lens such as a clear image or optic signal can be captured anytime, where an air pump is provided including a variable volume compression chamber to pressurize a volume of air, and a washing liquid conduit is communicated with a liquid nozzle and with the air pump, such as the air pump can be operated by the flow of pressurized washing liquid, such as the same flow of pressurized washing liquid is used to clean the optic surface, and to operate the air pump and generate a blast of air to blow off any liquid drop from the optic lens.
