An all-digital phase locked loop includes a time to digital converter that determines a fractional portion of a phase count. The time to digital converter has a quantization error that may be caused by phase noise, delay errors or skew errors. Several methods and devices may reduce the quantization error. A noise source may add dithering to the reference clock at an input of the time to digital converter. A digital processor may use two successive rising edges of the oscillator signal to count time delays of the time to digital convertor to the reference clock. The digital processor uses these counts to determine a ratio of the time delays and the time period of the oscillator signal for controlling a digitally controlled oscillator. A radio frequency counter circuit detects whether the oscillator signal leads or lags the reference clock because of skew and generates a phase signal to correct the skew.

Methods and devices for implementing all-digital phase locked loop

A transmission band of an analog signal including successive symbols to be transmitted is notched, where each symbol includes sub-carriers to be modulated. In particular, in each symbol the sub-carriers corresponding to a part of the transmission band to be notched are suppressed. In addition, in each symbol a chosen part of the remaining sub-carriers to be modulated is also suppressed.

Method and device for notching the transmission band of an analog signal, in particular for a detect and avoid (DAA) operation mode of an MB-OFDM system

The transmission band of an analog signal to be transmitted is notched, including sub-carriers to be modulated from digital modulation coefficients respectively associated with the sub-carriers. The method includes providing an initial digital signal from successive frequency-domain groups each containing the digital modulation coefficients respectively associated to the sub-carriers. The initial signal is filtered with a frequency resolution greater than the frequency resolution of the frequency-domain groups to remove frequencies corresponding to the sub-carriers to be removed. The filtered signal is windowed using a windowing mask having a representation in the frequency-domain including a main lobe and secondary lobes. The power spectrum of the lobes decrease faster than the inverse of the frequency squared.

Method and device for notching the transmission band of an analog signal, in particular an MB-OFDM signal

A method is provided for decoding a turbo-code encoded signal in a receiver. According to the method, the signal is received from a transmission channel, and the signal is digitally turbo-code decoded. Additionally, a quality information representative of conditions of the channel state estimation is dynamically determined, and the quality information is dynamically compared with a predetermined criteria for defining good or bad estimation conditions. A Maximum-A-Posteriori algorithm in the logarithmic domain is dynamically selected for good estimation conditions, or an approximation of the Maximum-A-Posteriori algorithm in the logarithmic domain is dynamically selected for bad estimation conditions. Also provided is a receiver that implements such a decoding method.

Method of decoding a turbo-code encoded signal in a receiver and corresponding receiver

A method for controlling frequency of a local oscillator in a DS-CDMA type receiver includes transforming a known spread spectrum signal into a sampled digital signal formed of symbols with a despreaded frequency spectrum, and determining a residual frequency error ffor each symbol including a first residual frequency error f. The method further includes correcting the frequency of the local oscillator with the residual frequency errors, and determining an average of absolute values of a predetermined number of successive residual frequency errors. The average is compared with a threshold, and if the average is greater than or equal to the threshold, the local oscillator frequency is corrected using an error equal to &#x2212;sgn(f) (1/T&#x2212;|f|), where sgn is the sign function, | | is the absolute value function and T is duration of a symbol before determining the next residual frequency error associated with the next symbol.
