The present disclosure relates to wireless communications, and more particularly to providing connectivity of a PC5 remote user equipment (UE) with UE-to-network (NW) relay access to the 5G core (5GC) via an IWF (e.g., N3IWF). In one aspect, a remote UE may be provided support for a network access stratum (NAS) connection with 5GC via an IWF. In another aspect, Access Traffic Steering, Switching and Splitting (ATSSS) support may be provided for a remote UE.

Techniques for supporting connectivity of remote user equipments with relay access via an interworking function

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques described herein provide for establishing connectivity to legacy generation wireless network via a fully service based wireless network. The fully service based wireless network may offer a core network service that is associated with a central unit of the legacy generation wireless network. A distributed unit (DU) of the fully service based wireless network may indicate to a user equipment (UE) the offered core network service. The UE may receive a service context for communications with the core network service, and the UE may transmit a service message, in accordance with the service context, to the core network service via the DU that may be forwarded to a legacy generation core network.

Establishing connectivity to legacy generation wireless network via a fully service based network

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a measurement configuration including trigger conditions for performance of handover procedures within a service-based wireless system. The UE may transmit a message indicating a satisfaction of a trigger condition to a source network entity, a mobility service offered by a service-based network, or both. After performance of a handover decision by the source network entity, the mobility service, or both, the mobility service may select a target network entity for the handover procedure. The mobility service may select a target network entity that supports at least one active core network service at the UE. The UE may then receive a handover command from the mobility service, and may perform a handover procedure to the target network entity.

Techniques for connected state mobility in a service-based wireless system

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An end-to-end routing layer may address packets between a user equipment (UE) and core network services offered by a service-based network on a per-core network service basis. A UE may communicate directly with a core network service (e.g., based on a network address associated with the core network service) or indirectly (e.g., through a proxy service). The UE may select access stratum (AS) resources over which to transmit an uplink packet data unit based on the target core network service. The UE may receive control signaling from a distributed unit, a system information block (SIB), or point-to-point signaling from the core network services indicating specific AS resources for each core network service. The UE may select logical channels for transmitting the uplink packet data units to specific core network services based on the AS resources associated with each service.

Addressability in a service-based wireless system

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network entity, a multicast-broadcast user service description message. The UE may communicate, using a multicast-broadcast service (MBS) transport function (MBSTF) client, with an MBS entity of the network entity, in accordance with information included in the user service description message, wherein the MBS entity is split into a multicast delivery function and a unicast application server. Multicast-broadcast user service architecture

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for controlling access and use of network resources and services by user equipment based on user equipment capabilities. In one aspect, a method for wireless communication by a network entity, includes: receiving, from a user equipment, a request to connect to a network, the request comprising a user equipment identifier and a reduced capability indication; determining a validity of the reduced capability indication based on at least one of: subscription data associated with the user equipment; or one or more capabilities associated with the user equipment; and making a connection decision based on the validity of the reduced capability indication.

Restricted access and use control for user equipment with reduced capabilities

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a UE with multiple universal subscription identity modules (i.e., a multi-USIM device) or concurrent radio access technology (C-RAT) capabilities to receive and respond to a page from a network of a first USIIM of the UE while not activating a receiver on that network by receiving the page (from the network of the first USIM) on a receiver active on a network of a second USIM. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes sending a request to register for paging events in a registration request message to an access and management function (AMF) of a network of a first universal subscriber identifier module (USIM) of the UE; sending a paging public user identifier (PPUID) of the UE, in a protocol data unit (PDU) session, to a paging server via a network of a second USIM of the UE, wherein the paging server is associated with the network of the first USIM; and receiving a message associated with the first USIM via the PDU session or another PDU session via the network of the second USIM.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, an indication that a cell associated with the base station does not support reduced capability UEs, wherein the UE is capable of operating in a first mode that is associated with reduced capability UEs and a second mode that is not associated with reduced capability UEs. The UE may communicate, in the second mode, with the base station to establish a connection with the cell based at least in part on at least one of: the UE supporting one or more capabilities associated with connecting with the cell, or no cells that support reduced capability UEs being available. Reduced capability user equipment operations

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In the context of a service-based wireless system, a user equipment (UE) may communicate with one or more core network services offered by a service-based network, where respective core network services are in one of an active, inactive, or unconnected state at the UE. The UE may be configured to maintain service contexts for communicating with core network services that are in an active or an inactive state at the UE, where signaling between the UE and each respective core network service may be used to activate or deactivate the respective core network services at the UE between the active and inactive states. By maintaining service contexts for inactive core network services, the UE may be able to quickly and efficiently resume communications with a core network service in accordance with the stored service context upon activating the core network service.

Techniques for service states in a service-based wireless system

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In the context of a service-based wireless system, a network entity of a random access network (RAN) may aggregate system information block (SIB) configurations from multiple core network services, where the core network services are offered or provided by a service-based network that interfaces with the RAN. After aggregating the SIB configurations, the network entity may relay or broadcast system information (e.g., SIB containers) to UEs communicatively coupled to the RAN on behalf of the core network services.

Techniques for system information broadcast in a service-based wireless system

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive information related to a dedicated preconfigured uplink resource (DPUR) in a message releasing the UE to an idle mode or an inactive mode. For example, in some aspects, the information related to the DPUR may identify one or more uplink resources that are allocated to the UE to enable the UE to initiate an uplink data transmission in the idle mode or the inactive mode. The apparatus may be configured to generate, for a set of data packets associated with an application, a set of parity bits, generate an encoded data transmission associated with a UPF including the set of data packets and the generated set of parity bits, and to output, for a receiving device associated with the application, the encoded data transmission. The apparatus may be configured to obtain an encoded data transmission associated with a UPF including a first plurality of bits associated with a set of data packets associated with an application and a second plurality of bits associated with a set of parity bits based on the set of data packets, to decode the encoded data transmission to generate the set of data packets, and output, for one of an application client or an application server associated with the application, the set of data packets.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station (BS), a paging communication while the UE is in an inactive mode or an idle mode. The UE may transmit, to the BS and based at least in part on receiving the paging communication, a first communication as part of a random access channel (RACH) procedure. The UE may receive, from the BS and based at least in part on transmitting the first communication, a second communication that includes mobile-terminated downlink data, an indication of an uplink resource, and a radio resource control (RRC) release message. The RRC release message may cause the UE to remain in the inactive mode or the idle mode while receiving the mobile-terminated downlink data. Paging for mobile-terminated small data reception in idle and/or inactive mode

Aspects described herein relate to communicating with one or more cells for receiving a multicast and/or broadcast service (MBS), and providing MBS continuity in device mobility scenarios. In an aspect, one or more cells for reselection from a current cell can be detected, where the current cell supports a UE interested MBS. The one or more cells can be evaluated for reselection based at least in part on whether the one or more cells support the UE interested MBS to determine a target cell for reselection. Cell reselection can be performed to the target cell.

Techniques for maintaining multicast and/or broadcast service wireless communications

Wireless communications systems and methods related to on-demand ultra-reliable, low-latency communication (URLLC) are provided. In one embodiment, a base station (BS) receives, from a user equipment (UE) in a first cell frequency, a request for a protocol data unit (PDU) session over a network slice. The BS receives, from a core network entity, a resource configuration request for the PDU session over the network slice. The BS transmits, to the core network entity, a resource configuration response indicating a cause for rejecting the resource configuration request. In one embodiment, a UE transmits, in a first cell frequency of a network, a network registration request message requesting a network slice of the network that is not provided by the first cell frequency. The UE receives a network registration response message indicating the network slice is allowed based on a second cell frequency of the network providing the network slice requested.
