An association message is transmitted to a session management function SMF node of the CN. The association message includes an indication that the UPF node supports a capability to modify session traffic in response to a handover. A session establishment request message is received from the SMF node. The session establishment request message includes an indication to modify session traffic of a protocol data unit PDU session for the communication device in response to handover. Methods relating to session management function SMF nodes and policy control function PCF nodes are also provided.

A method for providing a policy rule from a User Equipment to a mobile communication system. A method of and a Session Management Function, SMF, for provisioning processing rules for user traffic at a User Plane Function, UPF, in a core network of a telecommunication network are disclosed. The core network comprises an Access and Mobility Management Function, AMF and a Policy Control Function, PCF. The SMF first transmits to the PCF a request for obtaining processing rules for user traffic; the SMF then receives from the PCF processing rules enabling at least one of a Uniform Resource Identifier, URI, level processing policy and a Server Name Indication, SNI, level processing policy for the user traffic and provision the received processing rules with the UPF. The UPF can then process user traffic based on the provisioned processing rules, differentiating the user traffic at the more detailed URI and/or SNI level.

A method for operating a policy control entity in a wireless communications network. In the wireless communications network a multipath transmission with at least two data packet sessions can be provided between a content provider and a user equipment. The method comprises the following steps. First, an establishment request is received from a network exposure entity to set up the multipath transmission. The establishment request comprises multipath information including a multipath indicator, indicating that the multipath transmission is requested, and a flow description for the first data packet session and the second data packet session. User plane based exposure

A technique for dynamically classifying and re-classifying a data packet flow on a user plane of a core network domain is described. According to an apparatus aspect, a device is provided for dynamically classifying and re-classifying a data packet flow, wherein the device is configured to classify and re-classify the data packet flow using packet detection rules (PDRs) and wherein each PDR is associated with at least one action to be applied to data packets matching the PDR. The device is configured to receive one or more first data packets of a data packet flow, to determine that the received one or more first data packets match a first PDR to classify the data packet flow according to the first PDR, and to trigger application of at least one first action associated with the first PDR to the one or more first packets. The device is further configured to receive one or more second data packets of the data packet flow, wherein the one or more second data packets are received after the one or more first data packets, to determine that the received one or more second data packets match a second PDR to re-classify the data packet flow according to the second PDR, wherein the second PDR is different from the first PDR, and to trigger application of at least one second action associated with the second PDR to the one or more second data packets.
