For providing a recording/reproducing apparatus, for recording/reproducing information through conduction of electricity upon contact of a probe, having large recording density and a large transfer speed, but less in deterioration of a probe chips thereof, and being long in the lifetime thereof, within the recording/reproducing apparatus, a multi-chip is formed, disposing probe chips in large numbers thereof at a tip of a cantilever, while the cantilever is of a double-sided beam type, and the multi-chip is disposed at a center of the beam, wherein recording/reproducing portions of the multi-chip are disposed to correspond to recording dots one by one, and the multi-chip forming surface is moved up and down in parallel with the surface of a recording medium, due to suction force, so as to bring it to be in contact with the recording dots, and electricity is conducted after the contact thereof, thereby conducting the recording, in the structure; wherein, since a large amount of data can be read/written at one time, therefore it is possible to improve data transfer speed. Also, with conducting the R/W by means of the multi-chip, comparing to the single chip, it is possible to reduce the traveling distance of the multi-chip, thereby to reduce the abrasion. Also, since the tip portion of the said chip has the curvature radius, being large, such as, equal to 50 nm or greater than that, and since it moves in parallel with the surface of the recording medium, it can be in contact with the surface under the condition of, not the point contact, but near to the plane contact, therefore, the abrasion can be further reduced, effectively.

Recording/reproducing apparatus with double-sided beam type probe

In a recording/reproducing apparatus having a large number of probes, being still usable continuously when several pieces of the probes are in trouble, wherein a plural number of probes are so disposed that they can make recording and/or reproducing onto the same recording area, which is in charge of the probes, respectively, and when defect, such as, a trouble is generated within a first probe, that defect is detected, automatically, so as to exchanged into a spare probe built within the frame, thereby compensating the defect.

In an electrophotographic recording device, a multicolor toner image is formed by images in each color superimposed on one another. In order to detect image misalignment, image-forming units form a color registration detection pattern, and sensors detect the pattern and output detection signals. A control unit detects the position of the patterns based on only portions of the detection signals corresponding to leading edges of the patterns.

An image processing apparatus for a laser printer, wherein a halftone control through laser pulse modulation (PWM) is used in combination with distributed clustered-dot halftone processing which distributes a tone level over four clustered-dots, and the value represented by higher bits of a threshold are used to switch a PWM pulse pattern in a highlight area to a discontinuous pattern, thereby implementing the high density halftone processing, which provides a high highlight tone density and stability, only with a small scale memory and circuit.

A magnetic head slider having a magnetic head for reading/writing information from/into a magnetic disk and a slider on which the magnetic head is mounted. The slider has three surface portions with levels which are different from each other on a surface facing to the magnetic disk including a first surface portion forming a pad surface, a second surface portion having a level which is lower than a level of the first surface portion and a third surface portion having a level which is lower than that of the second surface portion. The second surface portion is provided at a side opposite to a side on which the magnetic head is mounted and the third surface portion is provided at the side on which the magnetic head is mounted. A projection is provided on the second surface portion.

A magnetic disk device and a flying slider, having a magnetic head for reading and writing information, are disclosed. The magnetic head slider includes flying pads of a stepped configuration for flying the slider, and each of the flying pads has a flat surface portion and a step surface recessed from this flat surface portion through a microscopic step. Microscopic projections are formed on the step surface. The height of the microscopic projections are higher than or substantially equal to the height of the step. With this construction, the slider is less liable to be turned to lean forward because of the provision of the microscopic projections, and beside a front edge of the step surface will not damage a magnetic disk surface. A variation of the flying height can be reduced by a negative pressure produced at the rear side of each microscopic projection. Therefore, there can be provided the magnetic disk device having high reliability and a large capacity.

Velocity control of two plungers provided in a pulsationless duplex plunger pump is effected by detecting pressure of a resultant discharge from the two plungers and positions of the plungers, and correcting sequentially a velocity instruction of the each plunger, based on pressure corresponding to the detected position of the each plunger so that the sum of velocities of the two plungers will be constant.
