A portable lifting jack has a drivable mechanism operating a jack shaft formed of telescoping lifting screws. A microprocessor controls power to selectively turn electric motor to drive the operating mechanism. An in-line current draw sensor senses electric load of the motor and communicates this to the microprocessor. One detected electrical load is an electric load spike indicative that the jack shaft has contacted a mechanical load. A potentiometer connected to the operating mechanism senses extended position of the telescoping lifting screws and communicates this position to the microprocessor, which is programmed to derive when snug contact is achieved with an encountered mechanical load and to pause operation of the electric motor. In a synchronized array of jacks, all are paused to await further operator input, which may be coordinated through a remote control.

Smart jack array

Adjustable stops are mounted on a rotating rod, and one pivot arm of a linked pair extends into an interference position such that one stop will strike it. The linkage draws the second arm into interference position if the first arm is displaced from it. Each pivot arm will brake the stop if struck from one direction and will be displaced, drawing in the other pivot arm, if struck from the opposite direction. The pivot arms react oppositely to being struck from each respective direction of rotation. Thus, continued rotation of the rod in one direction results in a stop striking a pivot arm suitably to brake the stop, with the permitted arc of rotation determined by relative adjustment of the stops.

Rotation limiter

A sensor detects force or other indications of an impending rollover of a motorized land vehicle. Upon detection of a threshold force value, the sensor actuates an applicator that delivers traction reducing fluid to the contact patch between at least one of the vehicle tires and the ground. The vehicle is enabled to dissipate the rollover inducing force by sliding laterally in preference to rolling over.
