The invention is a method for exploiting a subterranean formation including hydrocarbons with at least one lithologic facies of the formation having undergone at least one diagenetic phase over geological times. From at least one sample of rock obtained from the formation, from measured production data relating to the formation and from a meshed representation representative of the formation, each mesh of the meshed representation is determined including at least one indicator relating to the distribution of the facies present in the mesh. The method comprises a step of history matching in which at least one of the adjustment parameters is the diagenetic state of the identified facies.

Method for exploiting a hydrocarbon deposit by history matching of production as a function of diagenesis

A method for operating an oil deposit based on a technique of positioning wells to be drilled is disclosed. Based on a grid representative of the petrophysical properties of a subterranean formation through at least one well is drilled, a reservoir simulation is performed up to a time for which production of the formation being studied is to be predicted. Then, attributes are selected that are representative of the flows in the formation and a classification of these attributes is performed. Then, a quality indicator is computed for each of the classes and at least one class is selected such that its quality indicator is greater than a first threshold.

The invention relates to a method for exploiting a geological reservoir which may be a reservoir storing gas (for example CO). The exploitation (EX) of the geological reservoir is carried out according to an exploitation scheme (SE) defined on the basis of a reservoir model (MR) with the reservoir model being matched (CAL) in relation to dynamic data (DD). The invention relates to a method for exploiting (EX) a geological reservoir according to an exploitation scheme (SE) defined on the basis of a matched reservoir model (CAL) with static data and dynamic data. For this method, a first reservoir model (MR) displaying a certain consistency with respect to the flow properties of the medium is preselected. This preselected model (MR) is then used as starting point for the history matching process (CAL).

The invention is a method of developing a petroleum reservoir employing a technique for selection of the position of the wells to be drilled. A production indicator map is utilized comprising a set of cells each associated with a production indicator defining impact on fluid production of addition of a well in this cell. The production indicator map is constructed by selecting cells from among the set of cells of the map; determining production indicators in the selected cells; and interpolating the production indicators on the set of cells of the map, by an interpolation model accounting for a distance between the cell to be interpolated and the closest well to the cell to be interpolated. The position of the well to be drilled is defined by the cell where the production indicator is a maximum.

The invention is a method using a computer to construct a grid representative of the distribution of a physical property of an underground formation having application to petroleum reservoir development. A set of initial grid cells MI containing at least one conditioning point PC is defined. Each cell MI is then visited and assigned a value representative of the property using a filling method. At least one unvisited cell (MNV, MNV) adjacent to at least one already visited cell MV is then identified, and the number N of adjacent cells MV is determined for each cell (MNV, MNV). Each cell (MNV, MNV) is then visited and filled according to the decreasing values of N. The stages of identification and filling of cells (MNV, MNV) are repeated until each cell of the grid has been visited.

Method of constructing a grid representative of a property distribution by conditional multipoint statistical simulation

A method for optimizing the development of a fluid reservoir by means of an accelerated reservoir study. A geological model is constructed. A reservoir model is then constructed by upscaling the geological model. The links between cells of the geological model and a cell of the reservoir model where they are contained are determined and stored. Flow simulations are carried out by computer-implemented reservoir simulator, the reservoir model and the links. The above stages are then repeated without repeating the link determination, by modifying parameters of the reservoir study to optimize the development scheme. Finally, the reservoir is developed according to this optimized development scheme.

The invention is a method for real-time updating of a geological model using dynamic data while maintaining the coherence thereof with static observations. An initial set of reservoir property maps, obtained from stochastic simulations of a random function, are available. Parameters providing new realizations of the random function when applied to the set are selected. New maps are created using initial values of the parameters. As soon as new dynamic data are available, the parameters are modified to reduce a difference between the simulated data for perturbed models and the measured data. Finally, the reservoir is developed using a modified development scheme to account for the deformed maps.

The invention relates to a method having applications for oil exploration and COstorage of determining the three-dimensional distribution of the absolute permeability of a heterogeneous sample. The method includes: determining a 3D porosity map of the sample; carrying out a viscous miscible displacement experiment during which the evolution of the differential pressure on either side of the sample is determined; from this evolution, determining a 1D absolute permeability profile along the sample and constructing a first 3D permeability map from the 3D porosity map; estimating a simulated differential pressure by simulating numerically a viscous miscible test from the first permeability map and from the 1D permeability profile; determining the three-dimensional distribution of the absolute permeability of the sample by modifying at least once the first permeability map so as to minimize the difference between the simulated differential pressure and the differential pressure measured over the course of time.

A method of predicting petrophysical characteristics of an underground reservoir by constructing a geologic model consistent with seismic measurements is disclosed which permits optimization of oil reservoir development schemes. A geologic model, from which seismic data are simulated in depth, is constructed in depth. The geologic model is made consistent with seismic measurements acquired in time by minimization of an objective function by comparing the seismic measurements with seismic data simulated from the geologic model and converted to time. During minimization, the interval velocities used for conversion are updated by comparing, within the objective function, an observed thickness in time &#x394;Tbetween two markers with a thickness in time &#x394;Tsimulated from the seismic data, and by modifying simulation parameters such as the error &#x3b5;on the thickness of the two markers estimated in depth.
