Limited service state controller () for controlling activity of a mobile device () when the mobile device is in a limited service state, in which the mobile device camps on an acceptable serving cell of a cellular telecommunication network, the limited service state controller being configured to: get mobile device state information indicating that the mobile device is in the limited service state, get radio environment parameters related to a radio environment of the mobile device, and determine activity parameters to be set in the mobile device based on the mobile device state information and/or the radio environment parameters, for limiting the activity of the mobile device compared to the activity to be done when the mobile device is in a normal service state, while enabling access to an emergency service allowing to make an emergency call.

Limited service state control

A method of and a mobile terminal for transmitting data over an uplink from a mobile terminal to a base station, the data being transmitted over radio bursts, the method comprising and the mobile terminal being suitable for: assessing radio propagation conditions between the mobile terminal and the base station; determining if the radio propagation conditions fulfil a predetermined condition; wherein if it is determined that the radio propagation conditions fulfil the predetermined condition the transmission energy parameters of the signal bursts are adapted to reduce the energy used to transmit the data.

Method of and apparatus of communication between a mobile station and a base station

A receiver having Automatic Frequency Control ('AFC') is described having at least one input signal terminal and an offset frequency estimation means for estimating each offset frequency of at least two predetermined input signals inputted at the same time at the input signal terminal. The access to the receiver of each input signal is respectively modulated and identified by a distinct code, and in addition an AFC means is included to perform automatic frequency control of a voltage control oscillator serving as a frequency reference of the receiver. The AFC means described in the present invention is operative to provide a unique compensation command defined as a function of a combination of at least two analytical terms, each term respectively depending on the estimated offset frequency of the corresponding input signal.

A frequency-control unit is used for controlling an external controllable reference-frequency source. The frequency-control unit includes a filter unit with a controllable filter parameter, which is configured to derive, using the filter parameter, from a frequency-error signal a frequency-control signal for minimizing the frequency error of the reference frequency; and a correlation unit, which is configured to determine from frequency errors of the reference frequency at different points in time a correlation measure indicative of a correlation between the frequency errors at the different points in time. The frequency-control unit is configured to adapt the controllable filter parameter of the filter unit in dependence on the determined correlation measure. The value of the filter parameter can depend also on a receiver path strength, such as an RSCP value.
