A battery pack includes a battery assembly including six batteries each having a cylindrical external shape, and electrode terminals at both end portions in a cylindrical axis direction, respectively, are arranged in a second direction perpendicular to the cylindrical axis direction in which cylindrical axes thereof are in parallel or substantially in parallel, and a tab to connect the electrode terminals of the six batteries. Assuming that three batteries arranged in the second direction are a first battery, a second battery, and a third battery in this order, the tab is connected to the first battery and the third battery without being connected to the second battery.

Battery pack

A battery pack includes multiple batteries with tubular shape and in parallel or substantially in parallel to each other, and a tab to electrically connect the multiple batteries to each other. The multiple batteries include a first set of batteries in parallel or substantially in parallel in an X-axis direction, and a second set of batteries in parallel or substantially in parallel in the X-axis direction, and adjacent to the first set in a Y-axis direction. Each of the batteries in the first set is connected by the tab to a battery other than a battery at a shortest distance among the batteries in the second set.

Provided is a battery module. The battery module includes a battery pack including cells connected in series with an amount of s and cells connected in parallel with an amount of p (s is an integer of 1 or more and p is an integer of 1 or more), and a bidirectional DC/DC converter. The converter is configured to generate a voltage nV (n is −1 or 2) with respect to a voltage V of the battery pack.

Battery module, battery unit, and converter device

When a module controller of a battery system detects an abnormality of a battery module, the module controller selects the battery module without stopping the battery module. After that, the module controller compares a current value of a current supplied to a load, with a total value of rated currents of all battery modules that are normal and that are supplying power to the load. When the current value of the current supplied to the load is greater than the total value of the rated currents of the battery modules, the module controller performs a control to stop all the battery modules. When the current value of the current supplied to the load is less than or equal to the total value of the rated currents of all the battery modules that are supplying power to the load, the module controller performs a control to stop the abnormal battery module and not to stop the normal battery modules.

Battery-system control method and battery system

A switching module includes a determiner to open a first bidirectional switch and close a second bidirectional switch from a first time point over a testing period to determine that the first bidirectional switch has a short circuit failure when a differential absolute value of voltage values detected by voltmeters is equal to a preset voltage threshold value or less, and to open the first bidirectional switch and close the second bidirectional switch from a second time point after a period of n+½ times, where n is a positive integer, the set cycle from the first time point elapses, over a testing period to determine that the first bidirectional switch has a short circuit failure when a differential absolute value of the voltage values detected by the voltmeters is equal to the voltage threshold value or less.

Switching module

A battery module includes a battery, a bidirectional DC-DC converter, and a controller. The bidirectional DC-DC converter may convert a direct-current voltage output from the battery and thereafter output the direct-current voltage to a load. The controller is configured or programmed to perform constant voltage control of the bidirectional DC-DC converter and receive a stop warning signal providing advance notice that output of a power supply is to stop. The controller is configured or programmed to, before receiving the stop warning signal, perform control such that an output voltage of the bidirectional DC-DC converter is lower than a first target voltage, and, after receiving the stop warning signal and before the output of the power supply stops, increase the output voltage of the bidirectional DC-DC converter to the first target voltage or higher.

Battery module and power supply system

A power supply apparatus includes converters connected in parallel to a three-phase alternating-current power supply, input current detectors that detect current flowing through the respective three phases of the three-phase alternating-current power supply, and load current detectors that detect load current of the converters. Each of the converters includes AC-DC converters inputs of connected to two of the three phases. The AC-DC converters are connected in parallel to each other using a common output. The AC-DC converters that are driven maintain balance of output current. A controller determines whether switching between a driven state and a stopped state of the respective AC-DC converters is performed based on detection results from the load current detectors and switches between the driven state and the stopped state of the respective multiple AC-DC converters based on detection results by the input current detectors.

Power supply apparatus including AC-DC converters connected in parallel and driven based on load current

A power supply system including a battery module and a converter unit. The system includes a bidirectional DC-DC converter as a component of a battery module voltage control device that is connected between a load and a secondary battery and that changes a discharge voltage of the secondary battery and outputs the discharge voltage to the load. Moreover, a voltage control unit, which can include a control unit and the bidirectional DC-DC converter, changes the discharge voltage of the secondary battery to an output voltage target value to be outputted to the load.

Battery module voltage control device, battery module, and power supply system

A power supply system that includes a converter unit, a battery module connected in parallel to the converter unit and configured to supply power to a load, and a monitoring and controlling device configured to deactivate one or more of converter sections and to start driving the inactive converter section(s) in accordance with a light or heavy state of the load. When the output voltage of the battery module becomes higher than the output voltage of the converter unit when one or more of the converter sections are inactive, the output voltage of the battery module is supplied to the load. The monitoring and controlling device starts driving the inactive converter section(s) by the time the output voltage of the battery module exceeds the output voltage of the converter unit.
