A method for manufacturing a stabilizer, the stabilizer including a main body bar that is elastically deformable, and a pair of connecting plates that are separately connected to a pair of left and right suspension devices, the method including a forging step of forming the connecting plate by forging both end portions of a material tube, in which in the forging step, both end portions of the material tube are crushed in a radial direction to be formed into the connecting plate in a state where a sealing metal plate heated to a temperature equal to or higher than a melting point is disposed inside both end portions of the material tube heated to a temperature lower than the melting point.

Method for manufacturing stabilizer

A connector includes: a first terminal that is electrically conductive and includes a first contact portion being plate shaped and including a first teeth portion with one of surfaces thereof forming a plurality of continuous concavo-convex shapes, and a first base portion joined to the first contact portion and connected to one of connection targets; and a second terminal that is electrically conductive and includes a second contact portion including a second teeth portion with one of surfaces thereof forming a plurality of continuous concavo-convex shapes, the second teeth portion being engageable with the first teeth portion, and a second base portion that is joined to the second contact portion and connected to the other one of the connection targets, wherein the first terminal and the second terminal are electrically connected to each other by engagement between the first teeth portion and the second teeth portion.

Connector

A contact terminal interposed between two contact targets so as to provide electrical conduction between the two contact targets includes: a first conductive member including a salient portion composed of a plurality of inclined surfaces, and a first contact portion that is provided at an end different from the salient portion and contacts an electrode of one of the contact targets; and a second conductive member including a second contact portion that has a curved shape and contacts an electrode of another one of the contact targets, a plurality of elastic portions each of which extends in a band shape along the curved shape from the second contact portion and is elastically deformable, and sliding contact portions each of which is provided at a leading end of one of the elastic portions and slidably contacts a corresponding one of the inclined surfaces.

Contact terminal interposed between two contact targets

The pressure unit includes a spring member that is formed into a coil form obtained by winding a wire rod and that has a periodically changing pitch angle and a housing member to which end portions of the spring member are attached, and the pressure unit pressurizes a semiconductor stacked unit obtained by alternately stacking a semiconductor element module and a cooling tube that makes contact with the semiconductor element module and cools the semiconductor element module.

Pressure unit

A connector that includes a male terminal which has a conductive property and a tip portion of which is formed in a bar shape, and includes a coil spring formed of a conductive wire rod with an inner diameter smaller than a diameter of the tip portion of the male terminal and that linearly extends at an end portion at which the male terminal is inserted. The male terminal is inserted into the coil spring while a force that expands an inner diameter of at least a vicinity of the end portion is applied to an extending portion, and thereafter fitted to the coil spring by releasing the force.

In a method of manufacturing a shaft for the fluid dynamic bearing device, the shaft is formed with a plurality of grooves arranged in and around the external circumference, the surface of the grooves and external circumference with uniform roughness, and machined marks on the surface aligned in the circumferential direction, by controlling the relative vibration of a rod-shaped blank to be machined as the shaft for a fluid dynamic bearing and a grinding wheel (a machining tool) to grind the external circumference of the blank.

An arrayed-waveguide grating type optical multi-demultiplexer includes input waveguides, a first slab waveguide, a channel waveguide array, a second slab waveguide, and output waveguides. A pair of different refractive index regions, each having a refractive index different from that of the second slab waveguide, are formed on the second slab waveguide near a boundary between the second slab waveguide and channel waveguide array. The different refractive index regions project in peninsular shapes from both side portions of the slab waveguide. Light traveling from each waveguide of the channel waveguide array toward the output waveguides passes through the different refractive index regions. An optical distribution with a flattened field-distribution peak is created at a boundary between the second slab waveguide and output waveguides.

Optical multi-demultiplexer

An optical multi-demultiplexer of the present invention comprises an input waveguide to which wavelength division multiple signals are applied, a plurality of output waveguides for demultiplexing and outputting the wavelength division multiple signals, an arrayed waveguide including a plurality of channel waveguides having different waveguide lengths, an input slab waveguide, and an output slab waveguide. The input slab waveguide is provided between the input waveguide and the arrayed waveguide. The output slab waveguide is provided between the arrayed waveguide and the output waveguides. The input slab waveguide is formed with tapered island regions having a refractive index lower than that of the core layer of the slab waveguide. The island regions are situated in positions opposite the channel waveguides of the arrayed waveguide.

In an optical waveguide Y junction, comprising an input waveguide path, a split portion having one end smoothly connected to an end of said input waveguide path, and a pair of bifurcated ends, and a pair of output waveguide paths each having an end smoothly connected to a corresponding one of said bifurcated ends of said split portion, the split portion defines a modified asymmetric Y-shaped waveguide path which is defined by modifying an original symmetric Y-shaped waveguide path having a substantially constant width by removing an asymmetric wedge-shaped section from a side of the split portion interposed between the output waveguide paths. Thus, simply by changing the inner profile of the split portion, a desired uneven split ratio can be achieved without providing a spread out split portion or requiring any abrupt change in the shape of the waveguide path. This contributes to the reduction in the loss of the signal light. Also, a desired split ratio can be readily achieved by suitably changing the dimensions of the wedge-shaped section. In particular, by selecting a wedge-shaped inner profile, the design and fabrication of the junction can be simplified.

Optical waveguide Y junction

Proposed is a method for fabricating a planar optical waveguide device having a plurality of core segments formed between a lower clad layer and an upper clad layer, in which a hot isostatic pressing process (HIP) is carried out during the fabrication process. The lower clad layer may consist of a substrate or a buffer layer formed on a substrate. Each layer may be formed either by a low-temperature film-forming process such as CVD or by the flame hydrolysis pressing process. The HIP process is also effective in eliminating voids when the core is formed in a recess of the lower clad layer. According to the tests conducted by the inventors, it was found that the HIP process can be conducted without requiring any protective layer or a gas barrier through proper selection of the condition for the HIP process, as opposed to the common belief that a protective layer or a gas barrier is essential for the HIP process.

Method for fabricating planar optical waveguide devices

An optical device comprises a substrate, an optical waveguide, a laser diode, photodiodes, and a filter. The substrate is provided with a flat reference surface and a V-groove recessed from the reference surface. A pin is fitted in the V-groove of the device and a V-groove of a connector. The optical waveguide is formed on the reference surface. The optical waveguide is provided with a core and a cladding. The core extends along the reference surface. The laser diode emits a signal light beam with a first wavelength toward the core and the photodiode, individually. The filter transmits the signal light beam with the first wavelength and reflects a signal light beam with a second wavelength. The signal light beam reflected by the filter is received by a photodiode.

Optical device and optical module provided with optical device

A transition waveguide is provided between one main waveguide and two branching waveguides. The transition waveguide includes a stepped portion, of which the waveguide width suddenly slightly spreads stepwise with respect to the distal end portion of the main waveguide, and an extension portion extending from the stepped portion toward the branching waveguides. The waveguide width of the extension portion is substantially fixed or gradually increased in a region ranging from the stepped portion to the branching waveguides.
