A fluid measurement system includes a long focus optical system at a CCD camera, and an image processing means for comparing particle images taken at two time points for analysis. The system further includes a high-pass filter for leaving high frequency components at a predetermined frequency and higher from the luminance signal of the image, so that a turbulence structure occurring in the fluid to be measured is extracted, and the turbulence structure is captured and its image is taken. Therefore, the flow field of an inaccessible fluid to be measured can be analyzed.

Fluid measuring system and fluid measuring method

A fluid measurement system includes a long focus optical system at a CCD camera, and an image processor for comparing particle images taken at two time points for analysis. The long focus optical system is provided with a shield which shields a part including a central portion of a main mirror at an arbitrary shield rate. As a result, the particle image of a tracer is enlarged with its contour kept clear, that is, in focus, and therefore, the image having a luminance which allows analysis by the PIV method can be taken in spite of use of the long focus optical system.

Ultrasonic cavitating apparatus and ultrasonic doppler flow measurement system

A bubble generator to bring out performance of a Doppler ultrasonic flowmeter to the maximum extent is provided. The bubble generator is provided with a bubble generation member generating bubbles suitable for a predetermined frequency of an ultrasonic pulse emitted into a fluid to be measured and feeding the bubbles into the fluid pipe, and a uniform dispersion member dispersing the bubbles fed uniformly in the pipe, the bubble generator is installed on an upstream side of the fluid pipe with respect to an ultrasonic transducer. The bubble generation member has a Venturi tube, and the uniform dispersion member has a negative pressure generating device, in which the fluid to be measured drawn out by the uniform dispersion member from inside the fluid pipe is returned into the fluid pipe together with the bubbles fed into the fluid pipe via the Venturi tube.

An ultrasonic flowmeter includes: an emission trigger oscillator outputting a trigger signal; an ultrasonic oscillator generating and outputting ultrasonic pulses by the trigger signal from the emission trigger oscillator; an ultrasonic pulse receiver transmitting the ultrasonic pulses output from the ultrasonic oscillator toward a measurement line within a fluid, and receiving an ultrasonic echo signal serving as reflected waves reflected off an ultrasonic reflector suspended within the fluid; a signal processor subjecting the ultrasonic echo signal received by the ultrasonic pulse receiver to signal processing; and a signal analyzer analyzing the ultrasonic echo signal subjected to the signal processing by the signal processor, calculating the position and speed of the ultrasonic reflector positioned along the measurement line, and measuring at least one of the flow-speed distribution and flow of the fluid from the calculated results.

An ultrasonic flowmeter casts an ultrasonic pulse toward a measurement line ML, processes ultrasonic echo signals, and calculates the position and speed of each ultrasonic reflector positioned along the measurement line ML by analyzing the ultrasonic echo signals subjected to signal processing. The flowmeter filters the ultrasonic echo signals. A trigger oscillator of the flowmeter controls signal transmission/reception timing according to an adjustable sequence wherein one cycle is formed of three consecutive sets of emissions of an ultrasonic pulse and reception of ultrasonic echo signals, and a waiting period of time.

Ultrasonic flowmeter and ultrasonic flowmetering method

A Doppler type ultrasonic flowmeter has an ultrasonic transmitting means for emitting ultrasonic pulses from an ultrasonic transducer into a fluid pipe, a flow velocity profile measuring means for receiving an ultrasonic echo reflected from a measurement region in the fluid pipe thereby to measure a flow velocity profile of a fluid to be measured, a fluid flow rate computing means for calculating the flow rate thereof on the basis of the flow velocity profile of the fluid to be measured, and a frequency selecting and setting means for automatically selecting a fundamental frequency of an ultrasonic wave that causes a resonant transmission phenomenon to take place from the ultrasonic transducer. The frequency selecting and setting means controls the operation of the ultrasonic transmitting means such that an ultrasonic wave of a selected optimum frequency is emitted from the ultrasonic transducer. This arrangement makes it possible to provide a highly versatile Doppler type ultrasonic flowmeter that permits simple, easy, contactless, precise and highly accurate measurement of the flow rates of fluids to be measured that are flowing in various fluid pipes.

A silica optical fiber is provided, which contains a pure-silica core and a cladding layer formed on the pure-silica core, wherein the pure-silica core contains a C element and has a content of elements belonging to the third period-the seventh period of the periodic table, except Si element that constitutes the quartz structure, of not more than 100 ppm. The present invention can provide a silica optical fiber superior in the resistance to high energy electromagnetic waves such as UV light and &ggr;-rays.

A feed water heating system for heating a feed water for a power-generating plant having a steam turbine, a condenser and a steam generator, comprises: a steam injector unit for receiving a plurality of bled steams having different pressures extracted from the steam turbine and an effluent water discharged from the condenser to mix the effluent water with the plurality of bled steams to raise the temperature and pressure of a mixture of the effluent water with the plurality of bled steams to deaerate and discharge the temperature and pressure raised mixture. The steam injector unit comprises: a multistage steam injector having a plurality of steam injectors connected in series for receiving one of the plurality of bled steams and a feed water to mix the one of the plurality of bled steams with the feed water to raise the temperature and pressure of a mixture of the one of the plurality of bled steams and the feed water to discharge the temperature and pressure raised mixture; a cylindrical container for housing therein the multistage steam injector; and a jet centrifugal deaerator, provided downstream of the multistage steam injector, for receiving a feed water discharged from the multistage steam injector and the bled steams to apply a centrifugal force to the feed water and the bled steams to deaerate the feed water to spatially separate a deaerated feed water from the bled steams to discharge the deaerated feed water.
