An interface screen used for the correlation between video data and reference picture data includes: a screenfor displaying the video data reproduced by a video player; and a screenfor displaying a reference picture to be correlated with. When an operator enters an instruction to the operation portionwhile reproduction video, the data for a reference picture displayed on the screen is correlated with a corresponding reproduction time position of the video data.

Image processing system

Desired data can be easily retrieved from material image data associated with video data. For material image data associated with video data, character strings contained in relevant material images are extracted, and keywords input to keyword input parts of a user interface are matched with the extracted characters to retrieve data of the relevant material images. The retrieved material images are changed in size according to their importance before being displayed on a screen.

Image retrieval processing to obtain static image data from video data

A video playing system, which plays video data divided into a plurality of blocks, includes: a delivery part that delivers video data, a playing part that plays the delivered video data, and a detection part that detects viewing speed of the video data at a start point of a block of interest, at an end point of the block of interest, and at a point between the start point and the end point of the block of interest. When the detected viewing speed satisfies a predetermined condition, information indicating that viewing for the block is completed is generated.
