An X-ray detector according to an embodiment includes a scintillator array and a photodiode array. The photodiodes are arranged in such a manner that the widths of the active areas are equal to one another in the first direction.

According to one embodiment, the X-ray computed tomography apparatus includes an X-ray tube, a rotating frame, a plurality of detector elements, a plurality of DAS elements, switching circuitry, and switching control circuitry. The plurality of DAS elements perform signal processing on output signals from the plurality of detector elements. According to one embodiment, an X-ray computed tomography apparatus includes an X-ray tube, a detector, a first DAS, and a second DAS. The radiation detector includes a plurality of detection elements. Each detection element repeatedly detects X-rays generated by the X-ray tube and transmitted through a subject and repeatedly generates an electrical signal corresponding to the energy of the repeatedly detected X-rays. The first DAS acquires the electrical signal detected by part of the imaging region of each detection element in the integral mode. The second DAS acquires the electrical signal detected by the other part of the imaging region of each detection element in the photon count type mode.

An X-ray detection system has a detector and a data acquisition unit. The detector detects an X-ray passing through a body and producing an analog electric signal for each channel. The data acquisition unit includes a plurality of circuit blocks each including as many circuits as the number of channels assigned to each block. The data acquisition unit converts the analog electric signal into a digital signal for each channel and outputs the resultant digital signal. A phase control unit controls the phase of the circuit blocks such that the circuit blocks are grouped into a plurality of groups. The respective groups operate in synchronization with clock signals for the data acquisition unit. Phases of the clock signals are mutually different at least between two groups.
