An object to be appraised is input and divided into structural elements which are stored in a storage unit. Information is input which indicates an appraisal for the object to be appraised and a combination of elements constituting the object to be appraised is corresponded to the appraisal. The correspondence is classified into criteria which are stored and an arbitrary criterion is selected. A combination of structural elements is obtained on the basis of the selected criterion and appraisal information is inputted for the obtained combination of structural elements.

A database preparing method prepares a design database from which design database image elements are retrievable to build composite design images for decision making. The entire design image, including a plurality of separable image elements, is input into a processing unit. At least one of the image elements is extracted from the entire design image. The characteristic data which (i) identifies the extracted image element and (ii) corresponds to the entire design image is recorded and stored into a memory. The foregoing steps are repeated to build the design database. In a database retrieving method, a partial image of an entire image is input as a retrieval key. The entire image which corresponds to the retrieval key is retrieved from a database stored in a memory. The retrieved entire image is output.

In a judgement support system and method, essential items to be necessarily judged and optional items to be optionally judged by a user are displayed on a menu screen, thereby allowing a judgement through intuitive knowledge of the user. After judgement results of all essential items have been inputted, the system is allowed to stop its operation. When a judgement result is inputted, an evaluation of the judgement is outputted in accordance with a predetermined rule. The evaluation includes updating a judgement item. For example, an essential judgement item is added. The menu screen is dynamically changed during judgement.

Judgement support system and method

In a learning method, training data and verification data each including a set of input and output values are taken as teacher data, and a change of an error between an output value calculated by use of the input data of the verification data and the output value of the verification data and a change of an error between an output value calculated by use of the input value of the training data and the output value of the training data are simultaneously displayed, thereby preventing an overlearning and reducing the number of times of learning. Also in the learning method, fuzzy knowledge data is inputted and displayed, a range of the object of learning is interactively designated from among the displayed fuzzy knowledge, and a learning is made on the basis of a predetermined learning algorithm to change the fuzzy knowledge in the designated range, thereby performing the learning of a fuzzy knowledge with a user's intention reflected.

In a navigation system which has sensors for detecting a running distance, an azimuth, etc. of a vehicle, and a memory for storing map data; a probability density of a position of the vehicle is calculated on the basis of the sensor outputs and the map data for each of quantization units with which a probability computation determined by detection accuracies of the sensors and quantization of the map data can be executed. In addition, a final stage calculation of DP matching between trajectory data obtained from the on-board sensor data from a start point of the vehicle until a current time and a candidate route estimated from the road map data is iteratively executed, whereby a plurality of estimative vehicular positions and uncertainties (costs) corresponding to the respective estimative positions are iteratively evaluated, and a correct vehicular position is estimated by selecting at least one estimative vehicular position of low uncertainty (cost).

Navigation system and method using map data

A computer in a securities dealing decision support system is connected via a communication line to a dealer/trader terminal device and customer terminal device. A voice communication line is connected between the dealer/trader terminal device and customer terminal device. The information generated at the computer is outputted to both the terminal devices at the same time. The customer can decide the securities dealing by using the voice communication line while looking at the same information as that for the dealer/trader.

Computer aided real-time decision support system and method

A fuzzy evaluation and modification system evaluates and modifies the fuzzy knowledge in a fuzzy reasoning system. The fuzzy knowledge includes fuzzy rules, each described in an 'if . . . , then . . .' format, and membership functions defining meanings of propositions described in the 'if . . . , then' parts. Results of the fuzzy reasoning are monitored and compared with real data of a plurality of real test cases to evaluate the fuzzy knowledge. An influence power of each of the fuzzy rules with respect to the fuzzy reasoning results is attained for all the cases. Superpositional display of real data on the membership functions of the 'if . . .' part and reasoning results on the membership functions of the 'then . . .' part indicates a relationship between the membership function and the real data. The system includes units for obtaining a grade of rule representing adequacy of the fuzzy rule based on the membership functions associated with the 'if' part, attaining defuzzification values of the membership functions related to the 'then' part and obtaining differences between the defuzzification values and the real data. A relationship between the grade of rule and the difference thus obtained between the defuzzification values and the real data is outputted to an output unit. The fuzzy knowledge is modified by an operator in association with the output.

Method and system for evaluating and modifying fuzzy knowledge

A real time status monitoring method for inputting randomly varying data relating to a plurality of objects, processing a plurality of functions having some of the data as variables and monitoring an overall status including the objects on a real time basis, and an apparatus therefor are disclosed. A table indicating the presence or absence of data change in the objects and the presence or absence of variables related to the data change in the funtions is prepared. In processing the functions, the table is referenced and only those functions which include the variables related to the data change are processed.

Data searching apparatus by feature pattern

A method of localizing a moving body, by which the magnitude of parameters, which can give rise to bias errors, is estimated inversely from the difference between two locations of the moving body estimated by two different localization methods. Various quantities (position of sensors, propagation velocity of radiation, etc.), on the basis of which localization operations are carried out, can be corrected by using the magnitude thus estimated. The emission time of the radiation from the moving body can be estimated by the hyperbolic surface localization method and the spherical surface localization method can utilize the emission time thus estimated to localize the moving body. Further, localization errors caused by both localization methods can be estimated, so that it is possible to determine which localization method should be used to localize the moving body.

There is an attitude control method and system for a satellite. This system comprises a star catalogue of the universe, a star sensor and means for calculating features on the surface of the star sensor from a signal detected by the star sensor. The calculated features are compared with a table of which the star catalogue was reconstituted so as to easily search the features, thereby determining the attitude of the satellite.
