Fitting surfaces of female housings mounted on one frame are disposed in a common plane, and fitting surfaces of male housings mounted on the other frame are disposed in a common plane. The position of retaining the housings is disposed a predetermined distance from the fitting surfaces. Another type of female connector housing can be interchangeably mounted in a predetermined cavity in the one frame while another type of male connector housing can be interchangeably mounted in a predetermined cavity in the other frame.

A waterproof protective cover includes an upper casing member and a lower casing member pivotably connected to the upper casing member through a hinge. When the upper casing member is fitted to the lower casing member, a storage chamber for accommodating a connection part of connected wires is defined by the casing members. The upper and lower casing members are provided on respective interior walls thereof with reinforcement ribs which extend in the longitudinal direction of the casing members and which are positioned between the electrical wires accommodated in the casing members. With the arrangement, it is possible to increase the rigidity of the upper and lower casing members.

Method for waterproofing junction of main and branch wires and cover

A connector terminal is disclosed which comprises a base plate having an electrical contact portion at one side and an electrical wire connecting portion at the other side, and a pair of wire barrel members extending upwardly from both edges of the base plate so that a conductor of an electrical wire is crimped by the pair of wire barrel members. A CH CW ratio in the electrical wire pressure contact portion is in the range of 31 to 35%, the CH CW ratio being defined by the following equation: ##EQU1## where CH is the crimp height and CW is the crimp width.
